Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Fantastic energy. I was on my way in Kerala when something caught my eye: the vibrant sign on the roadside. I was looking to grab a bite and I knew I had found my place. I took a seat and was immediately sucked into the magical Kerala Culture. They served this traditional meal (called sadhya) on a banana leaf. Even I felt like a local eating this way! The meal was very customizable as I could ask for exactly what I wanted. There was so much variety. On top of all of this, the service was great! I definitely will be coming here again. If you ever find yourself in Kerala, you MUST visit clay oven. EDIT: I realized I didn’t even talk about the best part, the food! The first item that struck me by surprise was the pineapple pachadi. A delicate blend of pineapple and spices, the pineapple pachadi was the perfect way to start the meal. I then tried fresh mango pickle juice which was a perfect savory treat to try with the Kerala rice. There was 20+ different things to try and I wish I could talk about every single one (but I can’t due to the word limit). The last item I HAVE to mention was the jaggery payasam. The payasam was a sweet kheer (for you north indian folk) type of desert which was the perfect way to end the meal. If I had to describe this meal with 3 words, I would say mouth watering, scrumptious, and unforgettable: EDIT #2: The man serving us was so flexible and kind. He made me feel so comfortable asking questions and explained each dish. I will never forget when he accidentally brought out the rice payasam instead of jaggery 😂 (no worries, simple misunderstanding, he quickly brought the jaggery one and we had a quick laugh about it). Overall, very good service.

Clay Oven – A Must-Stop Veg Paradise on the Way to Munnar 🌿🍴 If you’re traveling towards Munnar and craving authentic vegetarian food, Clay Oven is the perfect pit stop! I had breakfast here and the experience was absolutely delightful. We ordered pakoras and chai, and trust me – they were fresh, crispy, and bursting with flavor. The chai was strong and aromatic, paired perfectly with the hot snacks. The whole vibe gave a homely comfort, just what you need while traveling through Kerala’s scenic routes. What I loved the most is that the restaurant is purely vegetarian and also caters to Jain food preferences, which is a big plus for travelers looking for clean, sattvik meals. The menu offers a wide range of Indian vegetarian cuisines, all prepared with quality ingredients and served with warmth. The ambience is simple yet welcoming, and the service is quick. You immediately feel the care they put into both their food and hospitality. ✨ Highlights: • 100% Vegetarian Restaurant 🌱 • Jain food options available 🙏 • Fresh, hygienic, and flavorful dishes 🍲 • Perfect stop on the way to Munnar 🛣️ • Must-try: Pakoras & Chai ☕ Overall, Clay Oven is a superb restro with quality food, friendly service, and a peaceful vibe. An amazing experience that made our trip even more special. 🤩 Highly recommend this place if you’re passing by!

The restaurant had a trendy vibe and prompt service. The appetizers were delightful, but the main course left something to be desired. Additionally, the noise level made it challenging to hold a conversation. With a few tweaks to the menu and ambiance, this place could reach its full potential. The restaurant had an interesting fusion concept, blending diverse culinary influences. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. However, the execution of some dishes didn't match the creative ideas, leaving room for improvement. With a refined approach to flavor combinations, this place could become a standout dining destination. The restaurant had a unique concept, but it was evident that the limited staff struggled to keep up with demand. This resulted in longer wait times and, unfortunately, smaller food quantities. While the flavors were commendable, addressing these issues would significantly enhance the overall dining experience. The restaurant's charm was overshadowed by the noticeable shortage of staff, leading to delays in service. Additionally, the portion sizes were disappointingly small for the price. Despite the flavorful dishes, the overall experience was hindered by these issues. With an increase in staffing and more generous servings, the dining experience could vastly improve.
