If you like to taste a large variety of sea food and fishes cheaply, this is the right place. Smitha hotel, better known locally as "Vaidyarude Kada" is a very small village hotel. The place can seat only around fifteen people at a time. A large variety of fish, crab, prones etc are served daily here. During lunch time, the rush is heavy on most days and you will have to wait for some time to get a seat. When compared to posh restaurants, the rates are amazingly cheap. People with very high standards may not like the environment, but once you taste the food, you will really love this place. I have visited this place on many occasions and had varieties of food. Read moreAfter hearing so much praise about the place for so long, finally visited today. Crowded place with compromised hygiene and cleanliness. Luckily we didn't had to wait too long for a seat. Service is good. They have a wide selection of fish preparations. That's the main - and the only- plus point. Taste range from average to unpleasant. Our fish curry was good, but just comparable to the local home recipes, the prawns fry was charred - been to woke multiple times, sure. Pearl spot (Kerimeen) was fried to a cracker texture, no juice left, like biting in to a dried fish! It's sin! Everything served cold. Their prices aren't in any balance to the ambience, quality and quantity of what they serve. I will call it robbery.

The other is a few meters away which is a tresssed front portion of a house. Been there twice. First one in group and was very cheap. Tried Karimeen pollochathu & curry were great , tiger prawns wasn't any good, crab was good, which was followed by lunch. 5 Karimeen pollichathu+ 2 karimeen curry+ 2 tiger prawns +one crab + 5 meals costed only 1800. Second time rice got finished and I went for 3 chappathi with an average non karimeen curry and a 2 inch square karimeen fry which costed 200 and I hardly had anything in my stomach. Compared to the distance for someone from Kochi, go there only if...
