Hug a Mug Cafe Nilambur — Restaurant in Kerala

Review is not intended to defame or degrade anyone. I am simply sharing my personal experience to raise awareness. On June 7, 2025, my friend and I visited Hug A Mug in Mambad, Nilambur, Malappuram, Kerala, and ordered a Mocha Frappe, Hazelnut Frappe, Milky Bar, and Vanilla Ice Cream.. What was supposed to be a pleasant outing turned into a nightmare.

Shortly after consuming the items, two of us started experiencing severe food poisoning symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. The situation escalated quickly, and we had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. This was an incredibly distressing experience, and it’s unacceptable that a café of this repute would serve food or beverages that could cause such harm.

The lack of hygiene or proper food handling practices at Hug A Mug is evident from this incident. I strongly urge the management to investigate their food preparation processes and ensure that such incidents do not happen again. I also advise others to be cautious when visiting this location. Have been there yesterday and i would like to give out an honest review about the place.

Pros:A very soothing location to jam and mind your own business. Very helpful for corporate meetings and telecommutings. The room temperature was well maintained and there was no unwanted music going on.

Cons : highly priced average dishes. No speciality or uniqueness in any of the dishes we tried. There should be something special to be worth the money we spend. The time taken to get served is very long compared to other places. The food we got was cold as well. It would be very nicer if we get a cut in the waiting time.

Overall, not a place to recommend for food lovers or travelers. This place is apt for remote workers...
