I'm very sorry to say.... We are utterly disappointed with the professionalism displayed by the waiter and also the menu.

Myself along with my family (including a 4 Yr old child) were returning from Medicity Hospital. The time was around 10.00 pm. We could not find any restaurants open during that time. We were little ambiguous as none of the hotels/restaurants were open along the highway at that late night time. Then we saw a brightly lit building. We were like "Thank God we found an open restaurant". We parked our car and on entering we were amazed to find lots of paintings and artworks of celebrities all over the walls everywhere. We managed to get a table. After waiting for 5-10 mins a waiter came rushing and handed over a booklet menu and a piece of paper with 4-5 food items on it (chicken biriyani, mutton biriyani, duck, etc). He said the food items on the paper menu were tonight's special. After handing over he left in a hurry without even giving us glasses for drinking water which was very unprofessional of him. We decided not to have biriyani at night and scrolled over the booklet menu. We decided to have butter chicken, naan and chapati. We waiting for 10 mins for the waiter. Could not find him anywhere. Finally out of no where he came and asked us "sir, what will u have"? I said we need butter naan, chapati and butter chicken. On hearing the reply of the waiter we were both shocked and perplexed. He said "sir, please order anything from the paper menu. The food items from the booklet menu will take 25-30 mins"

I was very angry and somehow managed to control my anger. I saw the faces of my family members. They too were like "what the hell was going on?"

I asked the waiter why he did not inform us that the booklet menu items will take a long time to serve before hand itself. Why is he insisting us to have biriyani (on the paper menu).... Who is he to tell the customer what and what not to eat?

We decided not to have food from here. I asked my family to get up and leave. And moreover as we were getting up the waiter said "Sir, can't u all wait just 25-30 mins for food?" which he was adding more fuel to fire.

I felt like bursting but my family members were with me. So I calmed myself. Then we left.

A humble message to the so-called food lovers, food bloggers.

If u need to have good food, then look elsewhere.

If u need an unprofessional treatment like how we got and if u just need to gossip and waste time on discussions, then ur at the right place.

This is how some restaurants take customers for granted.

But my dear customers.... Do not get fooled by the decorations and ambience of the restaurant. what's the point of having food from such places?

The same issue happened @ NEFT Tropical Hut restaurant , Mulanthuruthy. Food tastes like garbage.

Dear restaurant owner, please do not take customers for granted. If u run a restaurant then run it in a disciplined manner. We, the customers are not impressed with ur cosmetic stuffs. We need hygienic, good food served to us time bound by waiters having professional attitude.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AND ALSO OTHER RESTAURANTS LIKE THIS TO OTHERS.

Final note: Our precious 20 mins were wasted due to the waiter and we left the restaurant frustrated, angry and also a hungry stomach.

But God saved us! After few kms we found a small hotel. They served us hot chicken curry and freshly made fluffy chapati. We...

Javeen cinema restaurant, touted as Kerala's first movie theme restaurant, left much to be desired during my recent lunch visit. Although the ambience seemed promising with its black and white interiors, neatly arranged tables and chairs, and pleasant ambiance, the overall experience fell short of expectations.

Upon entering, we were greeted by general photos on the walls and movie songs playing in the background, which, while fitting the theme, did little to elevate the dining experience. The restaurant failed to live up to its name, as the movie theme was superficially represented through mere decorations and music.

One of the most disappointing aspects of our visit was the untrained waitstaff. We found ourselves waiting excessively for our orders, and it became apparent that our assigned waiter was overwhelmed attending to almost all the covers in the restaurant. It was initially easy to assume his inefficiency, but as more people joined the restaurant's service team, it became clear that this was a management issue rather than an individual problem.

The quality of the food was average at best. The vegetarian meal lacked the flavors and creativity one would expect from a restaurant of this nature. The chicken Hakka noodles were passable, but nothing exceptional. However, the chicken biriyani stood out as the tastiest dish among our orders. On the other hand, the fish curry failed to justify its price tag, leaving a lot to be desired in terms of flavor and portion size.

Furthermore, the management should pay closer attention to the cleanliness of the restaurant. Proper sanitation measures appeared to be lacking, which is concerning, especially given the ongoing emphasis on hygiene in the current times. Additionally, investing in comprehensive training programs for the service staff would greatly enhance the overall dining experience and ensure prompt and efficient service.

In conclusion, Javeen cinema restaurant fell short of its potential as Kerala's first movie theme restaurant. While the ambience and decor were pleasing, the lackluster food, untrained waitstaff, and inadequate attention to cleanliness were significant drawbacks. For those seeking a true movie-themed dining experience with exceptional food and service, it would be wise to look elsewhere until...

How do I start? Okay, If you want to treat yourself and your family with good food and service, then this is the restaurant to pick.

I'll split this review into two parts, their food and service.

Food I have had food from most of the well-known restaurants in Kollam and the ones that impressed me and came back for more are Supreme Upper Crust, All Spice and this hidden gem, Javees Cinema Restaurant. I always thought of this place as underrated among the foodies, but ones you have their food, it's better than the one you're going to get from other restaurants near-by. Most of the items from their menu are excellent and top quality to consume. For those who are concerned with MSG and food colouring, this place has got you covered, as far as I'm aware, most of them are MSG or taste enhancer free.

Must try items – all their fried rice dishes are good, chicken lollipop (didn't expect it to be this good), chicken biriyani and sweet corn chicken soup.

Feedback to the restaurant – Chicken biriyani served used to taste great, but I'm not liking the taste as of now. I feel like the recipe is changed, maybe the restaurant will see this comment may correct them.

Service They nailed it! Best service on-par with Supreme Upper Crust or even better. We were worried about choosing what restaurant to spend our special day on. Then we decided to visit this restaurant and let them know why we picked them. Damn, they made that day extra special. Awesome service to be honest.

Thank you, Jayamohan, Jayamohan's brother and down—to earth attitude cousin of him. They served us and gave us the best experience. This will be my next go to place...

During my recent visit to Kollam, I had a unique experience at a restaurant that stood out from all the places I’ve been to across India. I’ve traveled to almost every state in the country except for the Northeast, and I must say, this was one of the most creatively designed restaurants I’ve come across. The restaurant had a full Bollywood theme. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a statue holding a camera, just like in a movie shoot. The walls were filled with pictures of Bollywood stars from different eras. Every hero had their own space — from Shah Rukh Khan to Amitabh Bachchan, and even newer actors like Ranveer Singh. There were also sections dedicated to Hollywood movies, South Indian cinema, and other film industries. It truly felt like walking into a film museum. The food was good, and the taste was satisfying. The only downside was that the service was a bit slow, but the staff was supportive and polite, which made up for the wait. They were attentive and made sure we were comfortable throughout. Kollam itself is a nice city. It’s also known for its cashew industry, and I noticed many cashew factories while traveling around the area. It was interesting to see how deeply the cashew business is rooted in the city’s economy and culture. Overall, this visit was a good experience — a mix of tasty food, a memorable themed restaurant, and learning something new about Kollam. If you’re a movie lover and ever find yourself in this part of Kerala, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Summary: Excellent choice for a casual outing. Good food and good ambience. Ample parking is also a high point. Very modest rates. Food: we ordered 1. Cream of chicken soup- it was well within expectation and good quantity as well 2. Chicken biriyani - the pieces were succulent and quantity as expected for a standard plate of biriyani. Could've and shouldve been served hotter(temperature). 3. Special Javees korean fried rice: very rich rice with lots of colors including capsicum, cashew nuts, tomatoes etc. Not spicy but totally fulfilling especially with a fried egg on top. Ambience and service: This part is very unique. The walls are decorated with old actors from malayalam movies. Songs being played out from the era of Nasser to early 2000s of compositions from the likes of Rabindranan mash. Adds to a certain irresistible vibe. Very clean restaurant with small booth like setups for privacy. Service is as usual and expected. They gave us actually 'hot" and premium plates which is a bonus point. Desserts: didnt try anything but it was a pretty standard menu and nothing stood out of the ordinary. Price: Rs 200-300 per person
