Malabar Restaurant — Restaurant in Kerala

Been here yesterday evening to have a quick bite. Service was fast and good. The place looked fine in terms of cleanliness. The place is mainly specialized in malabari dishes. Most of the dishes like Parota, chicken Biriyani, Idiappam were available too when we checked in here at around 5.30 pm. We ordered appam, egg masala and a glass of coffee. The taste of both coffee & egg masala was great. Appam was also soft. Egg masala was bit hot in terms of taste. The masala contained pieces of green peas as well. One bowl of egg masala contained two pieces of boiled egg. The quantity of gravy was also ample to have 3 appams.I believe you will get the same kind of gravy if you order green peas masala because I felt the taste of egg masala more of green teas masala type.. Overall the food went all and I enjoyed it.

As the hotel is located on the Palakkad- Coimbatore highway it is a good option to step in for lunch , dinner and also for a quick bite if you are passing through that route. The hotel has ample space for parking in front as well...

As someone who has been a loyal customer of Malabar Restaurant in Kanjikode for the past 10 years, it is deeply disappointing to witness the continuous decline in the quality of food being served. This once-reliable restaurant was known for its taste and consistency, but over time, things have changed for the worse.

During my recent visit, I ordered a plate of beef fry, and the experience was far from satisfactory. Shockingly, almost 80% of the portion consisted of waste meat and liver, making it inedible and completely unacceptable. It’s not just about one bad plate—this incident reflects a serious lapse in food quality and standards.

As a regular customer, I strongly urge the management to take immediate action to address the deteriorating food quality. Malabar Restaurant has built a reputation over the years, and letting it go to waste due to negligence would be unfortunate.

Please bring back the standards that once made this place worth returning to.

Yesterday ( 22/06/2022) around 7:45 pm we ladies around 6 of us went to Have dinner and ordered paroota and beef masala . The meat was very raw and we couldnt eat and when we asked the waiter to cook it well he replied very rudely as if we were eating for free. After we had complained about the food which was horrible they didnt even bothered to Attend us .we waited more than one hour to reorder another dish which never came . Eventually we had to return without proper food . The funniest things is when we try to pay it digitaly no cards were acceptable including google pay and we were forced to pay by cash .

Earlier we had a good experience with tasty food and thats the reason we went there this time .we decided never to step in to this hotel again. The atrocious behaviour of the waiter ws insulting and the management never took effort to see into this situation. Very bad...
