I visited this Toddy shop on a Sunday with a little bit of hesitation. I was expecting a toddy shop from my younger days where a bunch of people got really drunk and found it difficult to take two steps. As we approached I noticed a large parking lot with about twenty cars in front of the temple. A quick study of the parking lot showed some really stylish cars like Mercedes and Audi along with other new vehicles.
The actual location is about 50 meters from the parking lot. From outside it looks pretty run down and very old. But there were so many people in the front and surprisingly it was all families with children. I wondered how so many people who came in all those cars could be accommodated inside. As we walked in the place was jam packed with over 200 customers and more waiting for tables.
Don't look for a table because on a Sunday you won't find any. Instead look for empty chairs and grab them and walk over to a table and share it with strangers. A friendly waiter will approach you with your drink order first. You can buy toddy in earthen pots or bottles. Toddy is poured into a jug through a sieve which catches little flies and worms which is normal. The toddy was my guess about 3% alcohol, sweet and bubbly. It's been 8 hours since I drank it and it's absolutely perfect, clean and refreshing. So I give high points for the toddy.
Then we ordered food. Cassava Mash, Fish Head Curry, Prawns, Pork, deep fried Anchovies etc. All in all food was 8.5/10 Was it amazing, not really, but it was good.
They only accept cash payment.
Bathrooms are decent but it could be maintained better.
Toddy was excellent but slightly sweet and low alcohol content. But ok for everyone in the family to try.
Ambience could do a lot better. The only reason why I am taking a star away.
Food was clean, good and safe to eat with no issues after.
Service was great, with the cleaner and the waiter really taking care of our table.
All in all đ€©đ€©đ€©đ€© 4 stars
Will definitely return in the future.
And I returned, this time on a Monday. The place was not so crowded. The staff had a lot of time to take care of us and they really did. The food was way better than on a Sunday, as they had some time to sit around and absorb the tastes. An amazing experience. I highly recommend going there on a weekday to fully experience the hospitality of the staff including kitchen staff. If you would like to take some toddy home just ask them they have clean brand new plastic bottles. I highly...

I recently visited Mullappanthal toddy shop with high hopes of enjoying a delightful evening. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the moment we arrived, it became apparent that the staff's lack of attentiveness would mar our visit.
Firstly, we were made to wait an astonishing 45 minutes just for our table to be cleaned. This extended delay was highly frustrating, as it wasted a significant portion of our noon. The lack of urgency and efficiency displayed by the staff was disheartening.
Once we were finally seated, our disappointment continued to grow. None of the waiters seemed interested in attending to our table. They appeared indifferent and unresponsive to our requests for assistance or even basic service. Their lack of care and attention left a bitter taste in our mouths.
Regrettably, the food failed to live up to the hype surrounding this establishment. While it was not terrible, it was far from exceptional. The dishes were average in taste and presentation, lacking the flavors and quality we had expected. We were left underwhelmed and unsatisfied with our dining experience.
Even the toddy, which is typically a highlight of a toddy shop visit, was nothing more than average. The flavor and freshness were lacking, and it failed to impress us. Considering the reputation that toddy shops have earned, this was a notable letdown.
Overall, I must express my disappointment with this toddy shop. The extended wait time, coupled with the staff's apathy towards our table, significantly diminished our enjoyment. The food, while decent, failed to meet the anticipated standards. The toddy, too, was unremarkable. Therefore, based on my experience, I would rate this establishment a mere 2 out of 5.
I hope that the management takes this feedback constructively and strives to improve the quality of service and overall experience for...

No cutlery is normally provided, so you should manuover deftly with your fingers soft flesh out of this thorny fish. The masala will go well with soft Appam prepared from fermented rice dough. Boiled Tapioca or Puttu- steamed rice powder in cylindrical shape interlaced with grated coconut- is another bread equivalent to go with aquatic or poultry items. Crab and shrimp roasted are recommended with Toddy. Duck, pork and chicken items are also available. Be careful with Fish curry unless your toung is tolerant to spicy food. A visit to the kitchen shed revealed the simplicity of a domestic cooking area and the number of women working there reveals the employability of such a village Toddy Parlour. As a patron you too contribute to Ethnic tourism and income of these rustic families apart from satisfying...
