This place offers a completely different vibe, and it may not be suitable for those who are obsessed with sanitizers. But for those who dare to disconnect from the internet and embrace nature, it's an amazing experience. I had a wonderful time conversing with Nair chettan and other guests while enjoying the serene surroundings.

The food is simple yet healthy, and it perfectly complements the beautiful view of small boats and Chinese fishing nets. The cool breeze on your face enhances your taste experience and provides a relaxing atmosphere. The ambiance is the major attraction here, and it's one of the best places to have an evening tea.

The menu is not extensive, with only a few dishes available such as puttu, duck egg roast, pappadam, and mung bean curry (cheru payar). However, the natural lighting and cool atmosphere during sunset amplify the charm of the surrounding world. The view of the lake, local fishermen, and evening vibes with tea transports you to a state of bliss.

I highly recommend exploring this place, not just for the food but for the unique experience it offers. The view is stunning, and the atmosphere is peaceful, making it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some quality time with nature. So, do add it to your bucket list if you're looking for a super view and a...

Vijaylakshmi Vilas, a simple mess is more commonly known as Nair Kada. In fact ask by the original name and the locals might stare at you. Ask them Nair Kada and they will immediately point you towards this place. An unassuming place from outside, enter in and be amazed by the space.  They are open quite late into the night till 2:00 am so travellers can drop in anytime for a pitstop. It's also a favourite among locals and is always crowded.

What We Wolfed?

This place is famous for its steaming hot idlis, hot and spicy chutney and mutton chops roast which is absolutely divine.  Fast moving and a hot local favourite, its not surprising that they run out of this dish pretty soon.  Unlike usual places where the chops are served whole, these are cut into pieces and served as chunks. Along with this we also ordered a chicken fry as and a lot of plain dosa.  Along with the chutney this was a brilliant experience.

Originally established to cater to local fishermen, its popularity quickly expanded to include a wider range of patrons. Despite its modest menu in the form of puttu, dry dal curry (parippu curry), duck egg curry, and pappad, all of which are served alongside a choice of normal tea or black tea.

Nair Chettan, the chef, brings a touch of magic to these simple dishes, making them incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant’s location near the backwaters, with the picturesque backdrop of a traditional Chinese dip net, enhances the overall dining experience, creating an ambiance that’s both serene and enchanting.

Do note that the Nair chettan only accepts cash, so be sure to bring enough with you. Additionally, parking for four-wheelers can be a bit of a challenge, but the delectable food and captivating setting make it well...
