One of the best eateries at Mundakayam. Location is very ideal which is Enroute K-K road (Kottayam Kumily) at 35th mile which is just 2 KM off to Mundakayam town. This restaurant is truly a blessing for toursits and travellers towards Thekady and Vailankanni. At a time the restaurant can accommodate around 50-55 members. Hardly 10 cars can park infront of the restaurant and it's the only drawback I feel about the restaurant. Also there are some rooms available for tourists and travellers. The property is owned, managed and well maintained by Christians Management and we can see the sacred heart picture of the lord of all food smiling and welcoming each and everyone who enters the property. The number of washbasin and toilets needs to be increased as it always crowded with customers.
I had my breakfast enroute to Kuttikkanam and Lunch during my return. When I visited, there were only Kerala Style Appam and Porotta with veg and non veg curry. We ate poratta with egg curry and which was ok. The lunch - fish curry meals was outstanding. Tasty and they serve side dishes are in good quantity. Suppliers were very decent and fast..
Property is always full and customers are flowing like anything. So it's not good to spend long time sitting here and chit chating with friends. I do recommend this property to everyone..
Update- Had my breakfast - Porota and Fish curry from here and it was very...

Rani Family Restaurant is a decent dining option for families traveling along the Mundakayam-Kuttikanam highway. Situated before reaching Mundakayam town, it's a convenient stop for those coming from Kuttikanam.
While the food isn't the best in the region, it's certainly good enough to satisfy your hunger. We opted for the Chicken Biryani and Veg Meals. The Biryani, though not exceptional, was decent. The portion size was adequate for one person. The Veg Meals, on the other hand, were quite satisfying and offered good value for money.
The restaurant has limited parking space for 4-5 cars, but we found ample street parking, especially during the peak Sabarimala season when the area is bustling with pilgrims.
The location of the restaurant is strategic, with several street food vendors nearby. This adds to the overall dining experience, offering a variety of options for those who prefer a quick bite.
While the menu may be limited, especially during lunch, the special fish fry seemed to be a popular choice among other diners.
In conclusion, Rani Family Restaurant is a reliable choice for a decent meal while traveling on the Mundakayam-Kuttikanam highway. While it may not be a gourmet destination, it offers a comfortable and convenient...
Read moreI had Terrible experience at the hotel.
On 1st May 2023 around 6:50 PM. I came to dine in with my family. We didn’t know that they ware about to close and they didn’t tell as well.
When the food reaches the table. They had started closing the restaurant. They started switching off the light, arranging the chaired and even got the bill before we finish. We lost our appetite due to that behavior.
After food when we reached the counter for paying the bill. We informed the person at the counter that “ if you could inform us before that, you are about to close, we won’t bother you and leave, why don’t you inform us.
I then he replayed that “ We don’t have any need that you need to dine with us’.
We didn’t tell anything and left after paying the bill.
This is not the way how they need to treat their customer. I been dining at the Rani Restaurant of different location for the past 20 years and this is the first time that I’m facing such issue.
They should terminate such employees. It may lead to the fall of the establishment.
I don’t know whether only I have to experience this or no one is reporting this.
I had reported this incident to one of the responsible person. He apologize for the behavior and told me that he will bring it to the attention of the owner.
I don’t know whether he was bluffing of...
