1)I love the food in paragon and was looking forward to the opening of salkara in Angamaly...there aren't any good restaurants between Thrissur and ernakulam and the opening of salkara has definitely changed that This was my first visit ..had the biriyani which was good..also had Kerala porotta and chilly chicken..not my usual choice to accompany porotta..but the people i were with were not fans of beef..so tried this..it was pretty good as well.. 2) visited again on 11-12-2019 Again mostly excellent food with few disappointments on service and quality of food My friend ordered kanthari fish and asked the captain to make sure the fish wld be "neymeen"seer fish..but they gave us basa.. When we asked the captain..he said seer was not ready and so the kithcen prepared basa..he should have asked us if we wanted to change the order instead of taking the decision for us.. saving grace was that i liked basa and it tasted good as well.. We started with the "njandu kurumulagu" soup (crab pepper soup) which we liked While on our soup a waiter came with a tray of the days specials..different types of fried fish..we asked if it was hot and the waiter replied in the affirmative..we took natholi..which is a small fish..but again it was cold..so i didn't like it We also had kanthari chicken as starters which was pretty good Moving on to the main course we ordered fish mango curry which was exceptional, kozhikodan chilly beef which was average porotta and biriyani We ordered mutton biriyani first .again my friend asked if the mutton was soft but it was very chewy.the rice was very flavorful..then we asked for a chicken biriyani..and they again gave us mutton biryani again For dessert we had ney payasam with icream and churuttu with rabdi..it was ok..nothing great So reducing the rating to 3 stars from the earlier 5 3)third visit..worst so far.. I have to say service is extremely poor here..the waiters are generally rude and have a take it or leave it attitude We ordered kanthari tawa fish fry..the menu said the cost was 280 rs..the waiter said there are different types of fish and asked us which one would we like..from the options he listed we picked avoli(pomfret) which was his recommendation..he didn't mention that it would cost 450 rs..so imagine our surprise when we got the bill..when I brought this to their attention.. they tried to justify his behaviour and said pomfret cost was as per size..while i tried to explain that that was fine as long as i was told while ordering that the price in the menu was not for avoli but basa.. The kanthari fish was excellent by the way..we also had the beef roast which was good and gulab jamun which was ok.. But the service levels just spoilt the whole experience for us 4th visit) This time kept the order simple..chilly corn soup and chicken biriyani..didn't know that salkara had two types of biriyani..have always had their white lagoon biriyani, when the waiter mentioned they had another kind wanted to try that as well..lagoon biriyani was good as usual..but the other biriyani was poor...adding another star for their regular white lagoon...

Salkara Restaurant at Kochi Airport Junction: A Mix of Flavors and Flaws

Located on the bustling NH544 at Kochi Airport Junction, Salkara Restaurant offers a range of tasty dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. While the restaurant has several positive aspects, such as delicious food, convenient parking, and a friendly staff, there are a few drawbacks that may dampen your dining experience.

Let's start with the positives. The food at Salkara Restaurant is undeniably good and full of flavor. Their menu boasts a wide variety of dishes, catering to different palates and preferences. From traditional Kerala delicacies to continental delights, there is something for everyone. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries or prefer mild flavors, the restaurant does an excellent job of satisfying diverse culinary cravings.

Another advantage of dining at Salkara is the availability of parking space. Considering its location on the busy NH544, it's reassuring to know that you won't have to spend precious time searching for parking. This convenience allows you to focus on enjoying your meal without worrying about your vehicle's safety.

Furthermore, the staff at Salkara deserves a special mention. They are known for their warm hospitality and attentive service. The waitstaff is friendly and eager to assist, making you feel welcomed throughout your dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests add to the overall positive ambiance.

However, it's important to address a few areas for improvement. One of the main concerns reported by customers is the delay in service. During peak hours, the restaurant can become quite crowded, leading to longer waiting times for both food and beverages. This delay can be frustrating, particularly for those who are on a tight schedule or have limited time to spare.

Additionally, the washrooms at Salkara are on the smaller side, which may pose a challenge during busy periods. With limited space, it can become crowded and slightly uncomfortable, especially if the restaurant is filled to capacity. Expanding and maintaining the washroom facilities could greatly enhance the overall experience for customers.

Lastly, due to its popularity, Salkara Restaurant can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours. The bustling atmosphere may not be ideal for those seeking a more peaceful and intimate dining experience. If you prefer a quieter setting, it's advisable to visit during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds.

Salkara Restaurant at Kochi Airport Junction offers a delightful culinary experience with its flavorsome food, convenient parking, and friendly staff. While the delay in service, small washrooms, and occasional crowding are minor drawbacks, they do not overshadow the overall positive aspects of the establishment. If you're in the area and looking for a satisfying meal, Salkara Restaurant is worth a visit, especially if you plan your visit wisely to...

I have had very pleasant experiences with the Paragon group restaurants. Be it their food or their service, all were exceptional. But when compared to other outlets of them in Calicut and kochi Lulu mall, which i have visited many times before, this outlet doesn’t meet our expectations as such. Last time we visited here, it seemed like a bit off time with no much rush(at around 6PM) than usual. We didn’t have to wait a bit. We ordered a soup as starter, then ordered some main dishes as well. But due to unavailability of the particular soup we ordered initially , they later came to us saying this and we ordered one another soup, which is available. But instead of bringing in the starters first, they directly brought the main course items. When checked about this to the staff, he behaved like he almost forgot the starter we ordered and we didn’t get a clear clarification on this from none of the available staff. We were extremely disappointed at this point, since we ordered this soup on a real crave during that rainy day. Not to mention the food we ordered. They were quite average when it comes to its taste. Biriyani was just okayish. I expected laghorn chicken, but to my surprise it was not. Beef roast masala was so raw and over flavoured. At last while paying, they gifted us a 10 percent discount on the bill, which we never asked, out of their courtesy. We actually didn’t want that discount in first place, but just the good food and service we expect from this good restaurant group. Due to crunch in time we had to leave soon. The person at the counter didn’t seem happy with me and didn’t utter a word or looked up to my face when i informed him about payment completion status. Not sure if it has something to do with the discount they gave us. Last but not the least, the staff at the cash counter were having their own time having personal fun laughing and talking loudly from the moment we entered the restaurant.

I hope Paragon group will look closely into the mentioned aspects in future to avoid...

Anyone from North kerala will know this place. And because of their increasing branches, I doubt any Keralite will have a difficulty in knowing them. And if you feel otherwise, then I would not ask you waste anymore time, but go visit and make your own review of this place. The place we went to was on the main road nearer to the Airport. It’s on the main road so, it’s difficult to miss it. We went there by 10pm, and the place was crowded. I was expecting a queue for getting a place to sit. But luckily, we found a free table in a corner. Hot Water was served and another boy came to take our order. Well, while going through the menu, the pics of their dishes were just tempting. Selection of one dish among 50 awesome preparation is difficult. Well as my friend and his family was a frequent visiter here, he made the choice of Kantari Beef, kerala Porotta, lime juice and sulaimani tea. They took around 5 mins probably to serve. First they gave us the lime juice and sulaimani. Oh hear this - sulaimani meaning “man of peace”. This was how the Malabar region called the Arabs who were good and friendly people, and as the Arabs introduced this tea to them, they called it the sulaimani chai. Well I never expected them to give sulaimani with the lemon squeezed in it. With that too, I guess it could have been a bit better. I guess the lemon used was a little old. Coming to talk about the Kantari beef, it was amazing and was my first time to have something like it. Kantari(birds eye chillies) made it hot and spicy and improved the taste to its best. That with porotta was another level itself. Every Malayalee should be able to understand my emotion towards beef and porotta. We had some hot milk tea at last, and it tasted even more better as our taste buds were filled with the Kantari’s spiciness… On the whole an enjoyment to the tummy… Mark this place as one of the first places to be visited for your meal. 😛 Cheers !!
