St. Mary's Bakery is situated on the side of Beach -- Mundamveli Road. It is adjacent to the Mundamveli Forrona * Church. This bakery supplies almost all bakery items to most bakeries of Kochi. They accept bulk orders for special family occasions. Their specialities are achappam, kuzhalappam, avalosunda murukku, gattiya, unni appam, halva, laddu and cookies. These traditional sweetmeats are very tasty just as we make at home. There is a custom among Christians of Kerala to visit their married daughters at their husbands house on their 9th month of pregnancy accompanied with 9 variety of sweetmeats. This is known as 'onpath ariyal' (9th month visit). The sweetmeats are usually achappam,kuzhalappam,avalosunda,unniyappam **,avalosunda, murukku, halva, laddu and gattiya. When I went to collect them at the stipulated date I found them neatly packed in cardboard carton which they opened for me to check whether all the items I ordered were inside. By the time I payed the bill they were ready to take away and I was able to leave the bakery altogether within 15 minnutes. The sweetmeats were delicious and fresh. You can be best assured of the quality of their products since they are in this business for over fifty Years.
