Today i went over there around 2:50 pm. I had to this restaurant about a 7 months back .on that time i was mesmerized with everything thing i had over there the food, service, hospitality etc. We asked for meals but its over by the time .Today i had the same expectations from them but i must say everything as clear cut .Then i planned to place the same dishes i had before. 4 Porotta,1 chicken roast , 2 orange juice and a lemon juice. I entered over there and waited so long for a waiter to take down the orders ,there is a moderate busy time .The clearner is cleaning and clearing the near by table ,he places all the waste plates and glass over our table and cleaning the table .I haven't seen such a hospitality anywhere . Placing the wastes plates on the new guests neat table . I came over there along with my friend. We both are very hungry. When the dishes arrived itself i am not satisfied with the quality Porotta looks thick and tastes it mixed with wheat flour, the texture and tastes different. Then i went on to the chicken roast, the worst curry i have ever tasted by one bite itself i quit. After that i tasted the orange juice which is bitter but i managed the main thing is that in this hot climate they didn't even made it chill .Then i finally decided to order some other gravy to have my porotta but nobody came to ask further we need anything. After fed up with everything Finally my friend called the waiter asked to bring chilled lemon juice atleast . Even after the instructions we given they made the same .no ice nothing . With lots of frustration i made them to parcel both the porotta and roast as parcel. The most excited thing about is that they really hiked the price .which worth more than a 4 star restaurant. And we decided not to go further over there ..The compromised everything as they...

Vazhiyora Kada, Kuravankuzhi – A Mixed Experience

We recently dined at Vazhiyora Kada, Kuravankuzhi, a popular roadside eatery known for its traditional Kerala-style food. The place had a local charm with meals served on banana leaves, adding an authentic touch to the experience.

Food Experience

We tried porotta, appam, tender chicken fry, nadan chicken curry, neymeen curry, fresh lime, and tomato roast. Most dishes tasted good, though the curries were on the spicier side. Unfortunately, the neymeen curry was disappointing, lacking the expected taste. The tender chicken fry was a highlight, and the appam paired well with the nadan chicken curry.

Ambiance & Service

The place was crowded, and we had to wait for 10-15 minutes to find a seat. Curries were served in regular steel vessels, and the overall cleanliness was okay but could be improved. Parking is roadside, which might be inconvenient during busy hours.

Billing Issue

One negative experience was the billing mistake. We had parcelled tomato fry and appam, but the bill wrongly included two neymeen curry. Luckily, we checked before leaving, as we were on a return trip to Ernakulam at night. The staff corrected the mistake upon addressing it, but such errors should be avoided.

Vazhiyora Kada offers decent traditional Kerala food, though spiciness might not suit everyone. The place is crowded and has limited seating, so expect a wait. Billing accuracy needs improvement, so it's best to double-check before paying. A good stop for a quick meal, but with room for better service and...

Although have driven past this restaurant quite a few times have never actually got in for a meal being a Vegetarian. This time on the way back from Cochin via M. C road decided to go in anyway and give it a try given all the social media hype and influencer rush. No surprise the place was brimming with customers at around 8pm on a weekend. Ambience is more of a local Nadan restaurant vibe than a dine in. There are separate family huts also available outside. We dined in common hall, bench and desk and pretty crowded. They serve in leafs which I felt was a great and hygenic idea. The menu although a Non- veggies dream come true was quite disappointing from a vegetarian point of view. They only had tomato fry and parotta or appams. Kappa was also there with various nonveg dishes (fish, chicken, mutton, beef). But, veg was single curry only, apparently they have kadala and veg curry only in afternoon. Surprisingly there were no egg items or omlette also. We had porotta with yomati fry which were crispy and fresh and taste was not bad. Had a Biriyani tea which was more of a Cardamom tea at its best. Service was quite average and nothing to highlight.

From an Eggetarian traveler point of view, not worth the hype, but can stop over for a quick meal and tea as service is pretty fast. Roadside parking is available on either side of the road which is...

Stopping at Vazhiyorakkada is more than just having lunch; it's an immersive experience in the heart of authentic Kerala cuisine. I can confidently say this place is worth going out of your way for—I personally took a 30km detour on a two-wheeler, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! The food here is simply amazing and awesome, bringing the flavors of Kerala to the fullest extent. Every dish tasted fresh, traditional, and crafted with genuine care. If you are looking for that true, uncompromised regional taste, this is where you need to be. Beyond the incredible food, the service and staff elevate the experience completely. The team is remarkably humble and showed immense patience, particularly in explaining the dishes to a tourist. Their great humility and genuine warmth made us feel welcome and valued. It’s a powerful reminder that when food is this good and service is this genuine, language is not a barrier to enjoying a meal. Vazhiyorakkada is a must-have place. It’s a perfect blend of fantastic taste, dedication to Kerala's culinary traditions, and truly humble service. Also to specifically mention the price. Its so economica. For a family of 4 its costed 1600rs.

I havent gone to vazhiyorakkada in the recent past. But i remember going here with my parents and having their signature fish thalacurry, naadan kozhicurry and duck curry around 10 -15 years back. This time we happened to pass vazhiyorakkada and since it was past lunch time we thought to give it a try. The ambience is changed and the system got professional, thats the first thing i noticed once i step inside. We opted for two meals, a naadan kozhi roast and ayala fry. The oonu was definitely among the best i ve had recently with each side curry striling the right chord in my tastebuds. The abundant use of shallots and coconut oil in kerala cuisine, takes the feeling notches higher and this was the best. The country chicken roast taste took me right back to my achamaas kitchen and the ayala fry was simply fried to perfection. No wonder vazhiyorakkada stayed among the top even after all these years. The care they put into preparing each item is evident in the very first bite you take. The staff too are very eager in their service and serves the side dishes and all quite lavishly. Great work team vazhiyorakkada. Keep on serving.... Highly Recommended!!
