This is more like a garden cafe, good wooden seating enough for large parties as well. The menu is pretty elaborate, lotsa choices ranging from Indian food, pizza, burgers, pasta and even some continental. We ordered mushroom sandwiches, good portion and well cooked. Two portions of pasta, pretty great and robust flavors. A thin crust pizza which was the star of the show, worth every penny. And a portion of roasted chicken which was cooked in a nice rosemary juus. Food was expensive, but for a tourist place it’s okay. However, their drinks you gotta be a little careful about… the cold coffee, tea etc were good.. but their milk shakes were pretty thin, din have much flavor and frankly not worth the dime.
So why a star less? For us it was their service… the waiter forgot to bring out one of our dishes, and once we were done… we had to wait for eons to get our cheque! I finally walked up to their manager and asked for it… he apologized and said he’ll send someone… So, maybe don’t wait for your cheque and yell for it immediately, and stick to ordering coffee and food,...
Read moreI recently visited this touristy restaurant, and I was thoroughly disappointed. The food is very ordinary but priced outrageously high. There's nothing special about the place at all.
What shocked me the most was the chicken and cheese sandwich. It was made with regular bread, even though they claimed it was homemade, and it cost a staggering 400 rupees! Additionally, the most basic tea bags were sold for 160 rupees.
We tried many dishes, and while they were not terrible, they were not good either. The prices are simply unreasonable, even for a tourist spot. I do not recommend this restaurant. The overall experience was underwhelming. The ambiance didn't make up for the high prices, and the service was just average. Given the quality and the inflated prices, I felt like this place is just trying to cash in on unsuspecting tourists.
In conclusion, if you're looking for value for your money or even just a decent meal, this is not the place to go. There are plenty of other restaurants that offer much better food at more reasonable prices. Save your money and...
Read moreTL;DR: Excellent pizzas, reasonable prices, beware of extra items snuck into your bill.
This is a lovely restaurant located conveniently close to Thikse monastery. The restrooms are clean and well appointed. There are tables both indoors as well as in the garden.
The pizzas, iced tea and softy ice cream are highly recommended. The prices were very reasonable and portions quite generous. Three pizzas will comfortably suffice for a party of four hungry travellers. They arrived at our table in 5 minutes!
For lunch, it is best to arrive before 1.30 pm. The monasteries close for lunch at 1 and the restaurant is flooded with tourists soon after.
I've knocked off two stars for what happened after a lovely lunch. There was an extra item on our bill. When we pointed it out to the waiter, he immediately took it back to amend it without a moment's hesitation. It seems like a common occurrence, likely a result of the large numbers of tourists that visit this restaurant. I do hope management...
