Sipping away at a Ginger Lemon Tea, I mused about how the Douglas Adams title "The Restaurant at the Edge of the Universe" would be an appropriate sobriquet for Wooden Bridge Cafe, Turtuk. While the word universe leads to a gross overstatement, Turtuk evokes ideas such as frontier town, crossroads, the edge of civilization. It isn't altogether fanciful to transmute some of these ideas on to a restaurant in such a place. That is its first appeal, even before any talk of its culinary fare or service ethos. Wooden Bridge Cafe is hard to miss if you come to Turtuk. It is adjacent to the bridge that separates the two villages of Turtuk: Yul and Pharol. Depending on one's arrival time from Hunder/Diskit, it is customary to find it well peopled on arrival. There were other options in the vicinity but this is easily the winner, in terms of its immediate visual appeal and outdoor setting. We ordered Ginger Lemon Tea, Kashmiri Kahwa Tea, Veg Maggi, Chilli Paneer. Good fare without being truly noteworthy, but I guess that's not the expectation of a frontier restaurant. We had scheduled our day this: Visit to Thang Village, Brunch here, Yul and Pharol. This approach allowed us to tuck into our food, lounge about a bit and then start our exploration of Yul and Pharol, feeling energized. As always, In Ladakh, there's considerable walking to be done. The place also allowed us to stock up on mineral water.

One of the decent taste cafes available at Turtuk. It's just beside the bridge which goes to Turtuk village. Dnt try to search for better options. Prices are reasonable and awesome view to watch while having the snacks. Being a Mumbaikar, I loved the taste. Better go and check out.

One of the best restaurant. You can enjoy the beautiful scene of the Turtuk Bridge too. Service is good. The fried rice and the chutney was delicious ๐Ÿš๐ŸŒถ๏ธ. . If you're searching for a restaurant then just go for the Wooden Cafe. โค๏ธ

This cafe is located very close to the bridge. We bought a bottle of water from this place and started our journey back to our hotel. On the way, while opening the bottle, we realised that the seal was already broken. The water smelled and tasted funny. It was clearly water refilled in an Aquafina bottle. On top of that, they charged is Rs. 30 for this bottle, which is RS. 10 higher than the MRP. Such kind of unethical behaviour should not be entertained. Shame on people like these who spoil the reputation of a beautiful place like Turtuk and its...

Place with a beautiful view of the turtuk Bridge. Coming to the food, the food is on the spicy side. So if youre not a spicy food eater inform them prior. We ordered noodles, rice and some coldrinks. The food was tasty but a little spicy. The cost is also reasonable for the view and taste. Can visit this place on your...
