A Big NOOOO to Mid Way Treat, Ratlam!
We stopped here for lunch, hoping it’d be a decent place since it’s under MP Tourism, but it was a complete disaster. We arrived around 3:30-4 PM, and while there were large groups inside, there were still a few empty tables. Thinking we could quickly get something to eat, we went to the receptionist to ask about the menu. And that’s when things went downhill fast.
The staff, especially the receptionist, was unbelievably rude and arrogant. When we asked whether they served veg or non-veg, he snapped back with a careless, “Menu me dekh lena” (Check the menu). No attempt to be helpful or polite; he clearly couldn’t be bothered. We asked again, thinking he might actually answer, but he repeated himself with the same dismissive attitude. It was as if we were inconveniencing him by simply asking a question!
Since we’d been traveling all day, we figured we’d at least use the restroom. Big mistake. The washroom was a disaster – filthy, smelly, and to make it worse, a single, shared washroom for both men and women. How is anyone supposed to enjoy a meal here when the hygiene standards are so atrocious?
We left immediately and drove a bit further to Café Joyo in Jaora. Now THAT was worth it! Friendly staff, great food, and, thankfully, spotless restrooms – a complete contrast to the miserable experience at Mid Way Retreat.
I never expected such a terrible experience from an MP Tourism property. If you value respectful service and basic hygiene, avoid Mid Way Retreat like the plague. Just keep driving to Café Joyo; you’ll thank...
