I just wish they expand!!
A must-stop place on the Pune-Nashik road, this place has it all: Excellent food Quick and smooth service An awesome ambience Amazingly clean and well-kept washrooms
They have a huge, beautiful Tulsi vrindavan, where they perform a daily pooja (yes, I was there that early once). Along with this, they now feature a seriously life-like elephant. The first time I saw it, I actually stopped and stared, confused whether I was seeing the real thing.
Eat anything off of the menu. The tastes of the sabzis actually vary, rather than smushing into one generic taste.
I prefer their south-Indian fare, but their north-Indian fare is equally good. Service is fast, smooth, helpful (they give usable options), and above all respectful.
One thing that I must comment on is their choice of music. Rather than go for instrumental music or songs, they play the Ram Raksha, sung melodiously by Anuradha Paudwal. I must say, this not only creates a sense of divine, but also eases the stress of driving. (I absolutely love this choice!)
They do have an issue with net connectivity, which I feel is more to do with the area, rather than their place. However, they offer wifi to ease transactions.
This is the one place where they have actually realised that a huge proportion of their customers are going to be women, and have accordingly installed almost 12-15 stalls (Indian style included), a changing room and a feeding room. Their staff constantly cleans it, keeping it dry and hygienic. No other hotel on the Pune-Nashik road, or any other (I am excluding the Mumbai route), offers a better facility than this.
They have installed quite a big playground for the kids. It features a slide combo, swings, round-about, rocking animals and sundry. Le son made new friends both the times he went there.
The hotel offers space for a few small businesses to display their wares. Try the paan shop's chocolate paan. The icecream place is a hit-or-miss. They have beautiful decorative items displayed in 2 spaces, and one for everyday use items. Handmade, the masala and pickle barand, has space there. They have also added a new Indian snacks outlet, which I really wanted to try. Two new additions were a VR station, which people were enjoying, and a trio of massager chairs. (Basically, the next time I go there's, I am gonna give the snacks place and the massager chairs a try.)
They have ample parking, as we experienced the last time we visited. It was literally overflowing with cars, but was being smoothly handled by their team of wardens.
A must-stop, if not for food, for the washrooms. (Believe me, washroom facilities as you move towards Nashik worsen considerably.)
P.S.: I generally forget to click photos, but this was one time when I actually brought out my phone and captured the 2-3 pics that I am sharing here. I especially love how they have built their space to showcase the...
Read moreStopping by Aakash Misal and Restaurant was an absolute treat, especially as someone who truly enjoys a well-made Misal Pav. Located conveniently along the highway, it’s the perfect place to take a break from the journey and indulge in authentic Maharashtrian flavors. I had heard a lot about their Misal, and I must say, it lived up to the hype.
As soon as I walked in, the place had a simple yet welcoming vibe. The seating was spacious, and despite the crowd, everything felt organized. The aroma of freshly made food filled the air, instantly making me even more eager to try it. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were polite and attentive, which is always a plus when visiting a new place.
The Misal Pav arrived steaming hot, beautifully plated with a side of curd, chopped onions, and lemon. The first bite was an explosion of flavors—spicy, tangy, and perfectly balanced. The rassa (gravy) was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat to leave a lasting taste without overpowering the dish. The pav was soft and fresh, making each bite even more enjoyable.
While Misal is their specialty, I was pleasantly surprised to see a wide variety of other dishes on their menu. They offer a great selection of South Indian dishes like crispy dosas, fluffy idlis, steaming hot vadas, and uttapams, all served with delicious chutneys and sambar. For those craving North Indian flavors, they have rich and creamy paneer dishes like Paneer Butter Masala, Kaju Curry, and Dal Tadka, paired with hot, buttery naans and rotis.
If you’re in the mood for something different, they also serve a variety of Chinese starters, including crispy Manchurian, spring rolls, and spicy Hakka noodles, making it a great spot for diverse taste buds. Their Maharashtrian thalis and sabzis offer wholesome meals for those who prefer traditional flavors.
One thing I truly appreciated about this place was how they maintained hygiene and cleanliness, which isn’t always the case with popular local food spots. The pricing was also reasonable, making it a great value-for-money experience.
For anyone traveling along this route or simply craving delicious, authentic food, Aakash Misal and Restaurant is definitely worth stopping for. Whether you're in the mood for a spicy Misal, comforting South Indian breakfast, North Indian sabzis, or Indo-Chinese starters, there’s something for everyone. I left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to...
