Mixed Experience at Bandekar's Restaurant, Sawantwadi

We visited Bandekar's Restaurant in Sawantwadi, drawn by the glowing Google reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was a letdown.

Upon arrival, the restaurant was bustling, and we managed to secure a table. Our order consisted of mutton and fish. However, the fish was a major disappointment. Growing up near the sea, we know what fresh seafood looks like, and the fish served was clearly not fresh. It was brownish inside, indicating it had been stored for too long.

We brought this to the staff's attention, and while their service was attentive and helpful, the food quality didn't match the hype. The fish curry was also underwhelming.

While Bandekar's has its strengths, the subpar food quality prevents me from giving a glowing review. With some improvements, they could live up to their reputation.

Looking at other reviews on the net for Bandekar's hotel, we decided to go there for dinner. Most of the menu items were unavailable at just 9:15 pm.They had only 4-5 menu items available at the time (Their menu written on white the board was not updated).So after a disappointment we ordered Veg thali and Bangda Thali.

Veg Thali- Dodkyachi bhaji (Ridge guard), Chavli bhaji (Black eyed beans),dal,solkadi,2 chapatis and rice.Veg thali was very very basic and they should improve the quality/taste of veg dishes.

Bangda Thali- Crispy fried bangda fry,jawala masala(with much more onions than jawala), Saundale masala(Silver anchovies with thick gravy), Anchovies curry,solkadi,2 chapatis and rice.

The fish thali was outstanding, with each dish expertly prepared and presented. The flavors were authentic and mouth-watering.
