Driving back to Mumbai along the highway, we happened to spot a signboard for the Parsi Dairy Farm. Curious about what it had to offer, we decided to make an impromptu stop—something that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the outside, it seemed like a small eatery, but as we drove into the parking area, we were astonished by its sheer size and charm. What we had expected to be a quick refreshment break turned into an unforgettable experience filled with delicious food, vintage artifacts, adorable animals, and a delightful touch of nature.
As we walked in, the first thing that caught our eye was a series of miniature cars placed near the entrance, around which a group of super cute rabbits hopped playfully. The sight was unexpected but incredibly endearing, making for a fun start to our visit. Moving further, we noticed several small enclosures housing different animals, giving the place a farm-like atmosphere that immediately set it apart from your usual roadside eatery. As we continued exploring, we stumbled upon a collection of vintage transportation models, which added an element of nostalgia and old-world charm. Beyond these, the path opened up into a spacious and lively restaurant that was bustling with visitors. The indoor seating was completely occupied when we arrived, so we had to place our order and wait for a table. However, there was an open-air lawn area next to the restaurant, where guests could also dine. Initially, it was mostly empty, but within minutes, it started filling up with families and travelers looking to enjoy their meals in the open air.
For food, we decided to keep it light and ordered a plate of mixed pakoras, a strawberry-flavored kulfi slice, and a lassi. The pakoras were simply outstanding—crispy, fried to perfection, and served with an assortment of chutneys that enhanced their flavors beautifully. Each bite was a delight, making us regret not ordering more. The strawberry-flavored kulfi slice was a unique surprise—creamy, rich, and infused with just the right amount of fruity sweetness, making it both refreshing and indulgent at the same time. To wash it all down, the lassi was thick, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness, providing the much-needed cooling effect on a warm day. The food was so good that we ended up packing two extra plates of pakoras to take along for our journey back!
One of the most fascinating aspects of the Parsi Dairy Farm was its beautiful vegetable plantation. Rows of fresh produce, including tomatoes, drumsticks, brinjals, mint, coriander, chilies, and more, were growing in abundance, adding an authentic farm experience to the visit. Seeing farm-fresh vegetables thriving in their natural environment was a rare sight for us city dwellers, and it added a refreshing touch to our stop. We were pleasantly surprised to learn from the staff that on Sundays, visitors can even purchase these farm-fresh vegetables, making the experience even more unique. With great food, a charming farm atmosphere, and interesting sights to explore, this place is far more than just a regular highway stop. If you're traveling along the Mumbai-Silvassa Highway, Parsi Dairy Farm is a must-visit. Whether you're looking for a quick bite, a fun experience for the family, or simply a refreshing break in a scenic setting, this place offers something for everyone. Expect to spend at least 2-3 hours here soaking in the ambiance, enjoying delicious food, and experiencing the simple joys...
Read moreAbsolutely Disappointed – A Place That Once Meant So Much to Us
This used to be a very special place for me and my family—somewhere we created memories and always looked forward to visiting. However, today that trust and emotional connection were completely ruined, all because of the unprofessional and insensitive behavior of one staff member: the assistant manager, Mr. Vikram Pandey.
We had come with close family friends, including an elderly person in our group who currently has a fractured leg and cannot walk. Understanding the situation, we politely asked Mr. Vikram how we could arrange to get food delivered to this individual’s seat. Initially, he responded by saying we could take the plate ourselves and serve them—so I did just that.
However, as I was on my way to deliver the plate, he suddenly stopped me and said that it was not allowed, and that he would not permit this. Instead, he insisted the food be delivered on a paper plate. What frustrated us the most is that we had asked beforehand specifically to avoid any issues. If we had known this would be the outcome, we would have either ordered food separately or packed a parcel for that person.
What was even more disheartening was his attitude. When we tried to explain the situation, Mr. Vikram not only denied what he had said earlier but also continued to argue and speak disrespectfully. None of the staff had the courage to stand up or clarify the situation in front of him—likely because he is their superior. Only one staff member came forward and said, “Sir aap baitho, I’ll deliver it myself”.
This whole incident left a bitter taste and turned what was meant to be a joyful family outing into a deeply unpleasant experience. The way we were treated—especially our elderly guest—was unacceptable and humiliating.
A place is not just about food and ambience—it’s about the people and how they treat you, especially in difficult or sensitive situations. Unfortunately, this experience made it very clear that respect, compassion, and basic customer service were completely absent.
We will not be visiting again, and we certainly won't be recommending this...
