A complete waste of time and money. This place is an example, no matter how much you spend to create ambience, quality of food cannot be replaced by anything else. The place is built well so as to create a village. Really nice little details everywhere. Now comes the reality. You choose and pay at the entrance? Is this fast food? If you order anything extra can be paid at the table. Not only this system is absolutely foolish, it also wastes time as you would have to queue up at the entrance itself. They have plenty staff so it's not like bill cannot be collected at the table like a normal restaurant. The family section has a traditional sit-down arrangement with just a really thin mat to sit on. Should have kept a mattress atleast. Will be uncomfortable for those who are not used to. The plates used here are quite quirky, like ones you see are used in jail. That's fine. The unacceptable part was one of the plates literally has some rice bits stuck to it either from storage or not proper washing. Spoons provided are small plastic ones. Servers could definitely use a spoon / gloves to serve onions and bhakri. The food by itself is a major negative point. The kaala masala here is nothing special, just black. Our chicken was served so cold, like it was kept in the fridge (not exaggerating). They did change it, but it shows the preparation was not fresh. Mutton was just spicy, nothing great. We had an immediate reference from previous dinner at hotel opal in kolhapur, and this was not even average. The pandhra rassa was a disaster, kaala rassa was nothing noteworthy. They have built मोरी (a traditional bathroom/ handwash)and kept a bucket and mug to wash hands. Good to look at. Couldn't keep a basic washbasin? The staff was polite, but needs training. Overall, a disappointment....

Hotel 7/12 in Kolhapur is locally famous for its Kala Mutton Thali, drawing praise for authentic Kolhapuri flavors and hearty portions. The Thali is best known for its rich, spicy masala, tender mutton pieces, and the signature dark 'kala' (black) gravy which brings out the robust taste of local spices.

Food Quality and Taste The Kala Mutton Thali stands out due to its deeply flavored, slow-cooked mutton in black masala, which is a classic Kolhapuri preparation.

The thali comes with various accompaniments such as chapati, rice, rassa (flavored curry/gravy), onions, and lemon, offering a sumptuous and well-rounded meal.

The mutton is reported to be tender and juicy, absorbing the spices well for a memorable, authentic taste.

Ambience and Experience The restaurant is designed to give a village-like feel, often cited for its rustic décor and welcoming environment.

Families and groups find the setting comfortable for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners.

Price and Portions Portions are considered generous, and though prices are a bit on the higher side for thalis, the food quality and sheer quantity make it reasonable for visitors seeking an authentic experience.

Overall Impression Hotel 7/12 is a go-to spot in Kolhapur for anyone wanting to try the iconic Kala Mutton Thali, with local patrons and travelers alike vouching for its consistent taste and genuine Kolhapuri hospitality.

The restaurant is especially popular on weekends, so expect crowds during peak hours.

For anyone traveling to Kolhapur and craving bold, spicy flavors—especially mutton lovers—the Kala Mutton Thali at Hotel 7/12 is highly recommended for an authentic...

Terrible experience with 7/12….we went on a Sunday with a group of 21 people….as the hotel is running out of business due to their bad food quality, only 1 seating space was functional, requested to allocate a new seating area as we had a big group but they took an hr to say yes….furthermore we ordered their special thali with kala mutton….took time to serve which is understandable but what is not acceptable is that they served 2 types of mutton where kala mutton was missing and whatever they served was literally uncooked….15 of us took mutton and each one of us and few other customers complained that mutton was uncooked….we asked serving person to just replace it to which he argued as if we asked his kidney followed by his manager, when we argued that even after taking order for kala mutton they forcefully did not serve he’s like you should have mentioned it while ordering, after 20 mins of requests and explaining, the manager agreed to replace only 2 pieces per plate …..2 pieces seriously!!!! Is it some charity thing or a hotel business …..the people who ordered veg were satisfied, not with the food quality but that atleast they got cooked meal. A BIG NO FOR 7/12 HOTEL as it is just a specimen of paid advertisement and worst...

This is the first visit review so I might be wrong too. But sharing my own experience. Firstly, food quality/taste was very good. I ordered dhangar mutton thali & small chicken biryani. Rassa and rice are unlimited here. Biryani was good too. Had a masala pan after lunch but was totally disappointed, but you can try other pan's. Food Rates are excluding GST. Below are some pros & cons: PROS: - Taste - Ambience/Infrastructure - Service - Lots of variety to eat from Dosa to Chinese. You will get everything (counters were available but were closed when I visited. May be they serve at evening) - Hygiene and cleanliness - Area is huge, so visit if you have enough free time - Play garden area for children, selfie points Bahot kharcha kiya hai boss 😊 CONS: - At first you need to take coupons for each order and the counters are different for each variety. So it may be time consuming and hectic, mainly if it's sunny day. For example- if you take coupon for thali and you want biryani then you have to walk to biryani counter which is away from main counter. - They serve maharashtrian food in aluminium utensils like the prisoners in jail. I found it weird and cheap. 1star for taste, 1 star for ambience, 1 star for service, 1 star for hygiene

Recently opened on Kolhapur Karad highway. This is the best place for people looking for authentic Maharashtra cuisine and village themed food mall. Location - 15km from Kolhapur on the way towards Karad. If anyone going from Kolhapur you have to make a U turn as it located on the other side. Available on Google maps. Ambience - great ambience, village theme, multiple stalls for various food items. Separate counters for veg , non veg and fish dishes. Sitting arrangements is both tables and down. Separate for family section. Portraits displayed of Maharashtra history and near by historical locations. Mini museum, rabbits, classic old utensils, stalls for ice cream, shakes, Kolhapur chappals, dry fruits Unique service, friendly crew Toilets - very clean and separate for men and women located on the cornrs of hotel Taste - typical authentic Maharashtra cuisine and taste. As pr observation it is famous for non veg thali specially chicken and mutton thali. Negative - service takes time, usually gets irritated for long waiting time min 10 - 15 min atleast. Covid norms not maintained.

So this is my short story, traveling back from Panchgani I wanted to have good mutton and this was my second visit. So I called the hotel to know if they were serving that particular day. I couldn't reach the hotel due to poor network. Then constantly when I came in network I was getting a call and when I was able to speak to the person in full network which was post 2 hours, surprisingly it was the owner of 7/12 Saat Baara hotel. He has such a pleasant and welcoming voice, that you feel welcomed to his hotel from that very moment. And when you reach at the hotel the whole ambience, the aroma, the humbleness, the variety in menu, the special mutton thali, the special tupacha mutton for kids made in Desi ghee the soft tender mutton. The taste is amazing and we also had misal for one of our family member, who had vegetarian meal. This place is not a hotel, it is an experience you should experience once every quarter. My last visit was an year back, on my visit back to Belgaum from Admapur. I will recommend this place to every traveling soul on this route. Satara to Belgaum.
