Hotel Sai Krupa in Panvel has gained significant popularity, especially for its Chicken Lapeta, thanks to viral Instagram reels. Intrigued by the hype, we decided to take a detour on our way to Lonavala and give this place a try, eager to satisfy our taste buds.
Ambiance and Setup --
The hotel was bustling with patrons when we arrived, but we were fortunate enough to secure a table without much wait. It features two sections: an air-conditioned (AC) area and a non-AC area. Given its location on the outskirts of Panvel, the restaurant enjoys a spacious layout, offering ample seating and a relaxed vibe, even amidst the crowd.
Starters --
To kick off our meal, we ordered their Chicken Karnala (half portion). This dish was a pleasant surprise. The chicken was succulent and juicy, perfectly coated in a dry masala that struck a fine balance—neither too spicy nor overwhelming. It was an explosion of flavors and a dish we hadn’t encountered before. A definite highlight and a must-try.
Main Course --
For the main course, we went for their signature Chicken Lapeta (half portion), paired with Bhakri. Given its fame, our expectations were high. However, while the dish was flavorful, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Essentially, it felt like a variant of Chicken Tikka Masala, but without the buttery richness and with a subtle Maharashtrian twist. While tasty, it wasn’t groundbreaking. We also sampled their Sev Bhaji, which turned out to be fairly average, lacking the punch we had hoped for.
Pricing and Value --
In terms of cost, the restaurant is moderately priced, and the portion sizes justify the pricing. It’s a decent option if you’re in the area or passing by, offering good value for money. However, it’s not necessarily worth a special trip solely for the food.
Overall Experience --
Hotel Sai Krupa is worth visiting once if you’re curious about their unique offerings like Chicken Karnala and Chicken Lapeta. However, it doesn’t quite match the viral hype. If you happen to be traveling through Panvel, it’s a convenient stop, but it may not warrant a dedicated journey just for...

I try the first time the famous chicken lapeta was also good. It was mouth-watering & incredibly flavorful. The service was not just fast on the weekends. Try to avoid going on weekends and the food is also very delicious
I ordered the Chicken Crispy was absolutely delicious. It had just the right amount of spice and was cooked perfectly with minimal oil. The crispness of the chicken added an extra layer of enjoyment, especially when paired with a refreshing beer or whiskey.
Chicken Wati Rassa gravy is very tasty, Must try this Rassa Wati dish comes with small chicken pieces. It was a delightful combination of spices and textures. You can eat it with your Roti or Rice.
The Chicken Lolipop was another standout dish. The chicken was succulent, and the marinade was bursting with flavors.
I also enjoyed the Boiled Egg Masala, which was a flavorful and satisfying side dish with a drink. The combination of boiled eggs and masala created a delightful blend of tastes.
Lastly, the Chakali was crispy and the peanuts are a good taste.

Read moreIf you are a true chicken lover and haven’t tried Sai Krupa Original Chicken Lapeta, you’re definitely missing out on one of the most authentic and flavorful culinary experiences. This place is a paradise for anyone who appreciates rich, spicy, and perfectly balanced Maharashtrian-style chicken preparations.
The signature dish, Chicken Lapeta, truly lives up to its name and fame. The gravy is thick, spicy, and aromatic, with the perfect blend of masalas that hit all the right notes. The chicken pieces are tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection — absorbing every bit of that fiery masala. It’s served with soft chapatis or bhakris that complement the dish beautifully, making every bite absolutely satisfying.
What really stands out at Sai Krupa is the authenticity and consistency of taste. You can feel that the recipe has been passed down with care, maintaining that old-school traditional flavor which many modern eateries fail to capture. The portions are generous, and the pricing is quite reasonable considering the quality and quantity.
The place itself may not look overly fancy, but it’s clean, well-managed, and filled with that homely charm where the focus is purely on great food. The staff is polite and attentive, and service is quite fast even during rush hours.
Overall, Sai Krupa Original Chicken Lapeta is not just a restaurant — it’s an experience for your taste buds. Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, this spot is a must-try for anyone craving authentic, spicy, and soul-satisfying non-veg food that truly represents Maharashtra’s...
