Had heard a lot about this place in Pune. Considering this is the main branch we visited here on a late sunday afternoon when there were hardly any customers dining around 3. 30pm. We had been here with an intention to shoot a food vlog at this place. However after a disappointing experience we didn't even bother to upload a vlog because the place is already hyped enough. After entering we asked if they are open to which they said yes hence we decided to have lunch. One of us was about to try their specialty which is mutton in kala masala and rest of us were going to have veg food. The mutton was good hence the 2 stars. It was fresh and tasty. Getting back to the bad experience with the veg food. We asked them to recommend their vegetarian speciality dishes. Vegetables cooked in kala masala (roasted spicy mixture) is the speciality so we ordered veg handi and matki masala. The matki was edible but the handi was almost watery. Veg handi unfortunately had no veggies but only green peas (mutter) and paneer. Paneer was stale too. The bhakris served are madhe crispy and thin here because there is a certain style of eating followed here where thw bhakri is crushed and soaked in curry. However the bajri bhakri didn't take good with the so called veg handi ao we opted for Paltu roti this is basically a big sized Maida Fulka which they advertise as 2 rotis in single roti. But it's only the top puffed up part that is separated from the base. It tasted good. To finish off we ordered Indrayni rice. (Indrayni rice is a sticky rice grown in and around Maharashtra which we cook in our kitchen every alternate day.)These guys simply added water to already cooked rice and made a "khimat" rice made for baby and gave us. It was again stale rice and it was rather smelly so we left eating and the lunch was called off on a disheartening and unsatisfied note. We told the waiter about it but he did not help is either in getting a fresh plate nor was the money deducted from the bill. The pricing is fair however nothing works if the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a terrible experience at Sandip Restaurant, and I feel compelled to share it so others can avoid the same disappointment. From the moment I entered, the service was awful. The staff seemed uninterested and unprofessional, and it took far too long for someone to even acknowledge my presence. After being seated, I waited another 20 minutes before a server finally came to take my order.
The food, unfortunately, was just as bad. I ordered egg curry that was highly recommended by the staff and also my friends, but what arrived at my table was nothing like what I expected. The food was bland, poorly prepared, and lacked any real flavor. The portion sizes were small for the price, and the presentation was sloppy. It was clear that the kitchen doesnāt pay attention to quality or customer satisfaction.
To make matters worse, the restaurant itself was far from clean. The tables were sticky, and the floor looked like it hadnāt been swept in days. The bathrooms were even worse, with an unpleasant odor and a lack of basic hygiene.
When I mentioned my concerns to the staff, they were dismissive and offered no apology or solution. The management didnāt seem to care about customer feedback, which made me feel even more frustrated and disrespected.
Overall, Sandip Restaurant was a huge letdown. The service was terrible, the food was subpar, and the cleanliness was appalling. I will not be returning and would not recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of other places to eat in the area that offer better food and a much more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA all day restaurant and bar located beside the Pune - Nagar highway The hotel is divided in there space one for Family only, having a female member is mandatory to gain access to this section. One sort of Cabana seating which was closed when we reached the hotel. The last was a open air seating section all male. The restaurant serves alcohol, we reached at 5.00pm but found tipsy men. The least is during odd hours restaurant could keep a drinking and non drinking section. Felt kind of vague seated with men swaying around. The ambience was ok the open air section is under a almond (badam) tree. What I liked - the food We were suggested mutton handi Half with Bhakri (jawar) The mutton curry was not spicy and had flavour. Extra rassa or gravy is chargeable,I think. The Bhakari were ok. A bit thick for my taste. We lastly order jeera rice The mutton handi had a lot of Mutton piece, a variety of them we also got liver, what I did not like was the meat was fatty, had lot of charbi ( fat). May be the locals prefer sure meat but I had to keep peeling it of the meat or bone.
The total we paid was ā¹600 a value for money the Mutton Handi ā¹ 370 was a complete value for money give the number of mutton pieces in the curry.
What could be better is having a alcoholic and non alcoholic section for single males not everyone comes to drink. Since its a hotel by the highway it people may also come to eat food.
Hope the review was...
