During our recent trip to Shirdi, we stopped at Sai Car Family Dhaba for lunch, hoping for a nice family meal. Unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory.
The Food:
We ordered Aloo Matar Sabji, Daal Fry, Tawa Chapatis, Puran Poli, and Matka Dahi. Here's how they fared:
Aloo Matar Sabji and Daal Fry were tasteless, lacking the basic spices and flavors you'd expect from such staple dishes.
The Tawa Chapatis, however, were the only saving grace โ soft, fresh, and well-prepared, they stood out amidst the otherwise disappointing food.
The Puran Poli was a major letdown. It was dry, stale, and tasted as if it had been refrigerated for days and simply reheated before serving. This was especially disappointing since Puran Poli is typically a comforting and delicious dish.
Even the Matka Dahi was unimpressive and lacked the creamy, fresh quality that makes it enjoyable.
The Ambience and Hygiene:
The washrooms were in a terrible state โ dirty and poorly maintained, making the overall stop uncomfortable for us. For a family dhaba, maintaining hygiene is critical, and this place failed miserably in that regard.
Final Verdict:
While the Tawa Chapatis were good, the rest of the food and the overall experience were disappointing. Sai Car Family Dhaba needs serious improvement in food quality and hygiene to meet even the basic expectations of travelers.
