Read moreTried the seafood thali here and it was a fantastic experience for anyone who loves coastal flavors. The thali was well-balanced – served with fresh bhakri, solkadhi, tangy onion salad, two types of curry, sukka (dry preparation), and of course the star – the seafood.
I had both the crab thali and the fish thali. The crab was fresh, well-cooked, and coated with just the right amount of spice – messy to eat but worth every bite. The fish fry was crisp on the outside, soft inside, and had that authentic home-style masala which is hard to find. The curries had a rich coconut base with a perfect balance of spice and flavor – not overpowering, but deeply satisfying. Solkadhi was refreshing and helped balance out the spices beautifully.
What I loved most was the authenticity – no over-the-top fancy presentation, just pure, homely, coastal food that feels both comforting and indulgent. Portions are generous and the pricing is very reasonable considering the quality and freshness of seafood.
✅ Fresh and flavorful seafood ✅ Perfectly spiced curries & sides ✅ Generous portions & great value ✅ Authentic coastal taste

Read moreDuring summer 2024 I visited Shri Mahalaxmi Bhojanalaya Bhalekar Khanaval in Sawantvadi with high expectations, given its reputation and hype. Unfortunately, my experience was a disappointment from start to finish.
The food was overwhelmingly oily, which was a major letdown. The quality of some fish dishes was subpar, with a noticeable degradation in freshness. The worst part was the pervasive fishy, yucky smell that lingered throughout the restaurant, making it difficult to enjoy our meal.
Considering the hype and accolades, I expected better quality and attention to detail. Sadly, the restaurant fell short in both aspects. The oily food and poor fish quality left us feeling unfulfilled and disappointed.
While I understand that off days can happen, the persistent smell and subpar food quality suggest a larger issue. Until they address these concerns, I cannot recommend Shri Mahalaxmi Bhojanalaya Bhalekar Khanaval to anyone.
Perhaps it's time for the restaurant to revisit their recipes, ingredient quality, and maintenance standards to live up to their...
