Waki, Santosh Nagar, Pune-Nasik Highway This was one of our stopovers for lunch during one of our long weekend drives from Chinchwad to explore new places, can't thank my BFF enough.
The place definitely looked attractive - lovely entrance, that lovely door, the stone exteriors giving you the feel of an ancient wada/village home :) - from the highways whenever we passed by and this time took a U - turn for lunch ( Love is in the air - na - the aroma of good food calling is in the air . We liked the place - the lovely wooden door entrance gives you a warm feeling, welcomes you with today's special displayed on the board and the centre of attraction being the decorated show piece of bullock cart. The interiors were good and pleasing, simple and clean, lovely lights, being a weekend with only few tables occupied - lucky us. The place was cool, open and airy with cleanliness maintained and copper utensils, etc nicely displayed on the walls and the LCD there screening a movie.
The menu looked good - tempting thalis - sarpanch thali, etc ( pics attached ) - will try it next time with a huge group. A good and decent place for lunch and dinners for families as well.
We enjoyed the delicious food - Special_Mutton_Thali was (bolhai) Special_GavranChicken_Thali served hot and soft, good. Indrayani rice was too good too. We ended the meal with butter milk, happy and content.and only disappointment being - the servers ki jhuki jhuki si nazar - engrossed in their mobiles :( . We had to raise our voices for extra bhakris and rice to be served otherwise they were...
Read moreIt was not the first time that I went to this place but definitely the last time I would be going to for sure. This place has changed a lot in terms of service and the food quality a lot but in a bad way..
What we ordered to eat:- 1- Masala Papad 2- Dal Tadka 3- Steam rice 4- Special Chicken thali
Masala papad a snacks that requires the basic of condiments was prepared in a jiffy as if there was fire somewhere.
Dal Tadka & Steam Rice - Nothing much to say about them but was okayish to be honest.
Special Chicken Thali :- We ordered two of them and I must it was the lousiest chicken thali I have ever had. Things that were part of this so called special thali was Egg curry, Alani Rassa, Chicken Masala, Chicken gravy, Chapati/Bhakti and Rice. Alani rassa was way too bland, egg curry okayish ( black curry). The mainstream issues were in their chicken pieces and gravy. It was prepared in kala rassa ( black curry) the chicken pieces felt like as if the chicken had polio ( literally). A tad too much spicy on the pallet, chicken pieces was less meaty but more with bones that too sharp n pricky ones.
