Vitthal Kamat's Original Family Restaurant is a gem in the landscape of Indian dining, particularly for those who crave authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. I recently visited one of their locations and was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience.
The moment you step in, you're greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that reflects the traditional values and culture of Maharashtra. The décor is simple yet tasteful, with an emphasis on cleanliness and comfort, which immediately sets the tone for a pleasant meal.
The menu is a celebration of Maharashtrian flavors, offering a wide range of vegetarian dishes that cater to both the casual diner and the food connoisseur. I started with the quintessential vada pav, and it did not disappoint. The vada was crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, paired perfectly with the spicy chutney and soft pav. Another standout was the misal pav, a hearty dish that packed a punch with its spice levels, yet remained balanced and satisfying.
The highlight, however, was the traditional Maharashtrian thali. It was a feast for the senses, with a variety of curries, vegetables, chapati, rice, and dessert all beautifully presented. Each item was cooked to perfection, with the flavors complementing each other seamlessly. The puran poli was especially delightful, offering a sweet conclusion to a savory meal.
Service at Vitthal Kamat’s was prompt and courteous. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely seemed to care about the dining experience. This added a personal touch that is often missing in larger chain restaurants.
Price-wise, the restaurant offers great value for money. The portions are generous, and the quality of the food justifies every rupee spent. It's an ideal place for a family meal, a gathering with friends, or even a solo visit if you're in the mood for comfort food that satisfies both the stomach and the soul.
In conclusion, Vitthal Kamat's Original Family Restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it's an experience that captures the essence of Maharashtrian hospitality and culinary tradition. Whether you're a local or a visitor, it's a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good food in a warm, welcoming...
Read moreThe service was not really great because when I was there only one waiter is present and we were getting the service really late, for one time if I consider late service is ok then the second thing comes which is the taste of food (no so good). I ordered a VEG KOLHAPURI and as everyone know that it should taste spicy but its not we also ordered TANDOORI ROTI and that was also not well cooked. But it really depends as there are other items too which would taste's good and I think it really depends as someone would like and someone would not.
And at last one thing is so good which is the atmosphere.

Read moreVital kamats restaurants used to be good in the nineties. Over the years the quality has deteriorated. They have not maintained the family tradition of serving good quality tasty food to its customers. The service is also poor. The management does pay attention to the ambience. The place is too noisy. The waiters are not bothered. Due to its proximity to the highway, travellers go there just to satisfy their immediate hunger but don't relish the food being served. I have noticed people leave their servings half unfinished due to...
