A hidden gem nestled in the serene pine forests of Shillong, ML 05 Cafe is an absolute must-visit for any food and travel enthusiast. I recently had the pleasure of dining there and was completely captivated by the experience. The cafe's unique, motor-themed ambiance, which celebrates the region's love for bikes and cars, is both quirky and inviting. With a Royal Enfield motorcycle hanging from the ceiling and clever use of vehicle parts for decor, the atmosphere is unlike any other.

The real star of the show, however, is the food. I ordered the Bombay sandwich, the chef's special Maggi, and the noodles, and each dish was bursting with flavor and made to perfection. The menu offers a delightful mix of hearty Italian and Chinese dishes, local favorites, and creative street-food-inspired options. The presentation was beautiful, and the taste was even better—true comfort food that warms the soul.

Beyond the amazing food and cool decor, the cafe's location itself is a treat, offering stunning views of the surrounding natural beauty. Fantastic location. Just of the main road. Even to reach the approach road to the cafe you pass through small patch of very dense growth of gigantic pine trees, each at least more than 100s of years old. Passing through this feels heavenly. One down side. When we visited local civic body lot of rubble and soil was dumped between the trees on one side of the road. It ruined the beauty of theirs heavenly patch and was turning it to resend a garage dump. I hope someone or at least the owner or the staff of ML 05 Cafe get all that ugly stuff removed. There is a small pond right on front of the cafe with water lilies. As I said in the beginning "Fantastic location". ML 05 is the vehicle registration code for ALL the vehicles go any type registered in Shillong District. The decor is reflective of this and aimed singularly for automotive buffs young and old. So much do that on addition to various spare parts of automobiles stuck on the topic a real Royal Enfield Motorcycle is hanging from the roof. Sitting arrangments are also unusual and unique. catering to sit down meals with mattresses and cushions/pillows, to normal table chair arrangments. This food joint located at the outskirts of Shillong has a unique vibe and ambience. You’ll love it if you’re into travelling and especially into riding. They actually have a Royal Enfield hung right inside the café. The overall set up is about travel, number plates and North East. Food here is good but not so great to be honest. They do have various options to choose from, but the taste for most of the items are okayish. The portion sizes in English breakfast platter are ridiculously small and mostly it’ll not be sufficient if you’re a foodie. The sitting arrangements are cozy and provides you the privacy you want. The washroom is clean and decent in size. The staffs here don’t have a heartwarming polite behaviour but it suffices your needs. The road leading to this establishment might be little confusing due to the ongoing highway work. Just for the record, the entry to this café is directly from the highway through a pine forest. It’s not as shown in Google Maps (through Krishi Vigyan Kendra). Please be very careful on this aspect otherwise you’ve to walk a LOT.
