I heard about this "dhaba" type restaurant from many of my friends for its handi mutton and mutton tash dish. This Sunday finally i got the chance to visit Motihari for some work purposes and that moment i decided that i have to check out this dhaba. It is nearby Motihari bus stand and chhatauni chowk...very much on the side of the national highway.
After tasting mutton handi, mutton tash, chicken isttu and chicken kabab all i can say.....it tastes average and the mutton handi for which this restaurant is famous for is below average.... strange no!!
Its very much overrated and overhyped. There's a saying in hindi you'll must have heard about it..." Andho me kaana raja" , this suits best as there's no any good non veg restaurant compared to this one people of Motihari have no any other options. Another reason why this restaurant is famous is because it is on Highway and nearby bus stand. So passersby have no any other options but to stop there and dine there. Also its no family restaurant as there are no special sitting arrangements and crowd there is mainly truck drivers, taxi drivers, local students so you can guess the standards of the restaurant.
Overall its an average restaurant. I'm not stopping you to go there I'm just sharing you my experience. You too must go there once and experience for yourselves. Afterall we only have one life so eat, travel and repeat. Gain some new kind of experience. Thanks for...
Read moreSo this is another ‘internet famous ‘restaurant, got famous due to multiple videos by “how to increase subscribers” youtubers or wanna be foodies/bloggers. See, food is not that bad, but this is not up to hype. I went specially for this from Jaynagar (200 km far). Restaurant is right at where bus drops you. My father told me, this place was deserted 20 years ago except some shaddy stalls.
Coming to food and all- Ambience is not that cool, it is your typical tier 3 restaurant. You cant come for good family dinner. They keep seeks kababs and those ‘Ahuna (Handi)’ at the front, which can literally make you go inside and order these.
My experience was ahuna meat was not that great. 6/10. It takes almost 90 mins to cook in handi but the no of footholds coming into restaurant, I was not sure how they are managing it. They keep serving from handi but how? One have to wait but with 20 handis they were serving 100+ customers plus delivery.
I did not get the ‘handi’ taste, yes it was good but not what I thought so. For seeks, I came in evening, it was good but you have to eat it within 5-10 mins, you can’t leave it longer as with time, meat pieces gets hard. Don’t know how they do marination; Kababs are supposed to be soft but not here.
Overall good, cousins told me there are many other good places but...
Read moreI will rate it only 4 stars for following reasons:-
The food is delicious.
Staff do quick service.
Primarily non-veg items are available.
They are specialised in mutton.
Very limited range of mutton items are available here like plain mutton curry, mutton ishtoo and mutton handi. Just 3 items.
They do not have options in chicken. Only roasted leg piece is served. No other chicken product.
Fish is also available but that's not worth.
Not a place to bring women. i.e. not a family restaurant.
Hygiene is a major concern. Though plates and cutlery are kept clean but once you look at the back door where used utensils are stored and cooked, you will never feel like eating here.
Child labours.
In veg category, only paneer is available.
The smoke of oven keeps coming inside the dining area.
It's too crowdy in evening (who knows why??).
Pricing is very unpredictable. Someday they charge less for more items and more price for less items. Completely random.
A plate of mutton and chapati (4 pieces ) costs just 100. Whereas paneer, costs 150! Reasons unknown.
In last food is tasty. It keeps open from 8 am to 11 pm. Hence you may walk-in anytime.
