I visited Barcode on Friday, January 10th, to celebrate my wife's birthday. I had booked a table for 10:30 PM through an online platform. Upon arrival, there were no tables available for six people in the indoor area on the third floor. After waiting for a couple of minutes, Gourav, the manager, suggested we settle at a table for four temporarily, promising to move us to a table for six shortly.
I stepped out to get my bag from the car and returned after 15 minutes, only to find that another group had been seated at the larger table we were promised. When I inquired, the staff apologized and explained that there had been a coordination issue. Gourav(The Manager) asked for another 5-10 minutes to accommodate us. After some understanding with the other group, we were finally moved to the larger table.
Now, coming to the main issue: We ordered three soups at 11:00 PM and requested them to be divided into half portions, along with two starters. We also specifically requested that the soups be made with less salt, as during our last visit, they had been overly salty.
At 11:27 PM, the soups arrived – two were split into halves, but the third was a full portion. The quantity made it seem like there were only two soups split into four portions and 3rd one has slightly extra. To our utter disappointment, the soups once again had excess salt, making them unpleasant. When we checked with the staff, they took 10 minutes to return and confirmed that only two soups were divided and the third wasn’t.
When we inquired about the starters, the staff checked again and informed us at 11:37 PM that the order hadn’t even been punched in the kitchen! Frustrated, we asked them to cancel the starters and decided to order the main course instead. However, the staff asked for 5 minutes to resolve the issue but didn’t return. Eventually, when we called to place the main course order, they assured us the starters would arrive soon. Despite canceling, the starters arrived at 11:52 PM.
At this point, we reluctantly accepted the starters and asked the staff to delay the main course until we finished eating. Yet, at 12:00 AM, the main course was served immediately after the starters. This lack of coordination and disregard for our request was highly disappointing.
When we asked for the bill at 12:30 AM, I politely expressed my dissatisfaction with the overall service and requested the removal of the 10% service charge due to the poor experience. The staff acknowledged the service issues and initially agreed to remove the charge. However, after 10 minutes, they returned, stating that the manager had refused to waive the fee since we were paying through an online platform.
Does using an online platform give them a license to charge a service fee despite such a poor experience? The restaurant wasn’t even 50% occupied, yet the service was terrible.
The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the food was decent, though the salt issue persisted despite our explicit request. However, the poor service and lack of coordination completely ruined our evening. Taking my wife and friends to Barcode for a special day was a regrettable decision. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this...
Read moreBarcode is one of the most promising outlets in Dwarka with spacious property extending to third floor and lovely terrace. The interiors are done tastefully and the entrance is lit.The quirky wall paintings welcomes you to this place. The weekend vibes can be felt the moment you enter the premises with some live singing bands and aura of this place. The moment you enter, the prompt staff does an appropriate sitting arrangement. The menu is North Indian and global, there's something for everyone in this extensive menu. Here's what we tried: We started with "Beer battered tempura fish" which is very classic and a must have with a drink and is apt for weekend vibes. The fish used was sole, had a hint of thyme and was done perfectly crispy. The tarter sauce tasted next to perfect. "Sinful fried bucket" was our next choice as it was our cheat day and no one was interested in counting calories. The bucket had a mix of Cajun fries, fish fingers, zatar chicken fries, mixed peppers and garlic mayo. For kids it was one in all choice and was loaded.Everything tasted good and it's a great portion for tasting maximum at one go "Grilled chicken with garlic mayo" Being a chicken liver, this is our favorite and we loved this platter which had lavish potato mash with grilled veggies and nicely done chicken in Rosemary and mushroom sauce. "Chicken gharana" A curry style chicken with gravy on a spicier note was little above average. The gravy was smooth and thin and spices gave it a different flavor.Little bold for our palate yet we enjoyed the hotness equation. "Brownie with ice cream"This one is perfect ending to any meal. The brownie was yummy and walnuts gave it a bite with chilled vanilla scoop and melted chocolate,it tasted divine. The mocktails that accompaints the meal were ice tea and sangria. Both were average.
Overall the ambience was great, the charm of live singing session is mesmerizing. The crowd is elite. The staff is prompt and courteous. A great place to chillax over drinks with families...
Read moreIf you visit Dwarka sector 9 by metro it feels like you've entered a countryside place, but wait till you arrive at this outlet it is totally opposite from the first impression of sector 9. The restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the metro station and there is an ample amount of parking space around it, so it is located in a no congested area. The restaurant has an inner sitting, an outer and an open sitting on the terrace. If you want to enjoy lovely weather with aeroplanes flying over your head then you must recommended to reserve a table on the terrace.
I'm sorry I guess I got carried away explaining the beauty of the restaurant .. So let's talk about food. We ordered 4 items in our lunch which included- Tandoori spring rolls Veg Indonesian BBQ chicken wings Baked nachos Non-Veg Crusted Chicken schnitzel strips 2 mocktails
Talking about the spring rolls, they were of a different concept. Usually we eat fried spring roll, but these were tandoori and made a great combination with mint sause. If you love to have BBQ sauce then Indonesian BBQ strips are meant for you. The chicken was in a good quantity and it was delicious too.
Our favourite dish in all of them were the chicken schnitzel. You all might have tasted crispy chicken, but this is above all of them. I wish I had more space in my stomach, I would've loved to reorder it. The dish that was not up to the mark was the Chicken Nachos. The only reason we didn't liked it because it had too much of kidney beans as compared to the chicken, so it had a prominent taste of beans rather than chicken.
Lastly, in drinks we ordered Virgin mojito and Bar code special. Although virgin mojito was the usual one, but the bar code special was a spicy drink. Yes you read it right, spicy one. Guava juice with a hint of Tabasco and it was a worthy drink for those who love this combination or just give it a try!
