We have been visiting Khalsa Restaurant for many years and have always enjoyed the food. However, our recent visit on 25th July 2025 was very disappointing.
We first ordered Tandoori Chicken, but all of my friends felt that although the chicken was cooked, it lacked proper marination and flavor. Thinking it might just be a one-off, we placed a second order for Afghani Chicken. Unfortunately, it was the same issue again — it tasted bland and was just chicken in a dull cream base, lacking the rich taste we expected.
We even asked the staff if the chef had changed because the food tasted very different from what we were used to. We told them politely that they could take it back, no problem, but we suggested they pay attention to the spices and flavors, as that seemed to be the main issue.
To keep it simple, we then ordered Chicken Kebab, but to our surprise, even that was disappointing. It was dry and tasteless — honestly, I’ve never had such a bad kebab before. We were left wondering what had happened to the quality that Khalsa Restaurant was once known for.
Finally, we requested the server to kindly replace the kebab, considering it was our third disappointing dish in a row. Instead of addressing the issue, the staff surprised us by bringing the bill and informing us that the kebab had been taken back — but also told us that they would not be accepting any further...
Read moreI know this place since I was 10 and now my daughter is that age. It used to be a small dhaba preparing rustic dishes. Majorly favorites were Dana liver and mutton barra. Over the years it has tried it's best to preserve the original taste. My today's visit with family brought back those memories. However, the breaking up of business and formation of new restaurants have surely taken the toll on the authenticity and affordability of this place. In its zeal to make it a fine dining restaurant (khalsa parivaar), the true essence of the original brand khalsa has somehow taken a dent. Considering the location, the prices found in the menu are way too much for the kind of 5 star type small portions served. I am strictly discussing about the non veg dishes. The footfall of the people from the neighbouring area of Hari Nagar, Mayapuri etc has drastically reduced.
Dana liver was good as usual. Mutton bara was neither marinated for long, nor roasted well. Tawa chicken with brain curry was yummy as usual, but the quantity of oil/ghee could be halved. Tandoori chicken is way to expensive considering the malnourished murga. But it is always delightful to see some old faces even now. Some waiters are working for so long and remain to be courteous and cheerful. That sure earns this establishment some...
Read moreBeing fallen for the ratings and YouTube paid promotion for a famous restaurant in Mayapuri and being a mutton lover went 20 kms away to relish the services which undoubtedly turned into a pathetic experience. Ambience: From sofa to counters, it was untidy with burnt matchsticks on it. Had seen small bugs and cockroaches all around. Service: This place turned out to be absolutely opposite to its legacy now. We came for a take away order and asked for a menu and the staff couldn't provide us with the menu for 10 min, since it was already too late to go anywhere else and to justify our standing for 10 min already and when we asked the staff rudely answered ' can u see we on call?'. The staff don't value your time at all. Only the name Khalsa is big but completely disgrace in terms of services. A roadside dhaba is better than this worst restaurant. Thumbs down to their services and unqualified and...
