Firstly, I would like to mention about the food. The food was horrendous. We had ordered 4 Butter Naan, Rice, Bali Prawn, Egg tadka, Chicken kasa, and 2 Pomfret fish. All of the mentioned items (excluding Butter Naan) lacked spice, rather, it was sweet. We had clearly mentioned our food to be spicy, but they had failed to meet our order. And not only that, but, they gave us COLD and SWEET food. Each and every item that we had ordered had tomato sauce in it, even after mentioning that our food should be spicy. Then, they changed the food and provided us the second time. This time they filled the whole curry with a hell lot of red chilly powder. I assume that they wanted us to be sick from eating their food. Secondly, I would like to mention about the Service. The staff behaviour was horrible as well. The person who took our order seemed uninterested, the female staff was continuously stealing glances of us and made faces which made us uncomfortable, their attitude towards us changed after we complained about the food the first time, however, one of the staff was nice to us throughout and even apologised for the bad experience. Thirdly, The Atmosphere. The atmosphere was chill and empty, the music was too loud, utensils and plates were dirty, and there was a faint unpleasant odour. Fourth, The Pass The Parcel. While our food was delayed, as usual, we had noticed that the leftover food from one table was passed onto another table. This practice should be stopped where people are supposed to have fun while eating: Overall, our experience at The Big Brothers Dhaba was TERRIBLE. We used to be regular customers of this place but now we have sworn to never...
Read moreThere's both outdoor and indoor seating in this restaurant and we went for the indoor one. We had veg Lemon Coriander soup, veg Lung Fung Soup, Plain Rice, Crispy babycorn, fish fingers, veg Schezwan noodles, Mutton Keema, Butter naan, Chicken Mughlai and masala cold drinks. Except the chicken mughlai, everything else was very good. The chicken mughlai had a weird taste that I just couldn't eat. The staff offered to change it, but we were done with our dinner already, so we didn't take up the offer. Portions were good and the noodles might suffice for 2.
Chicken Mughlai - 1/5 Everything else - 4.5-5/5
Ambience is okay. Nothing spectacular, but all right. 3/5
Staff were all polite, but hotel management skills were lacking in several respects. To start with, the first toilet I went to didn't have a handwash in the wash basin and had run out of water. Fortunately, they had another which had both. The glasses, when we sat down, were kept inverted on the table mats, with one of them off the edge of the mat, touching the table. Ideally, they should be kept on a napkin. When we asked for the remaining food to be parcelled, a staff member took one of our food bowls and put it directly over the naan while taking them away. The hygiene is probably not bad enough to get you sick, but these little things can affect the experience. I wish the staff are given more rigourous training to improve the experience. I can't enthusiastically recommend this restaurant yet, but if the management skills improve, then...
Read moreVisited on 22nd April for dinner with family. It was my marriage anniversary and I was keen to give this joint a try on the back of some positive recommendations. To start with let me be frank that the joint is overrated for serving quality odia dishes of mutton, chicken, prawn and fish.We ordered a plate of desi mutton curry ( was told that it comprised 6 sizable pieces in gravy ), malai prawn one plate ( I had wished prawn curry, gravy style,in coconut juice and was informed it is it was the way it would be cooked),plain rice and chicken salt n pepper, chicken malai kebab and burnt garlic soup(NV).The starters and soup were tasty indeed but nothing too exciting. The mutton curry was served in a medium size bowl brim full of gravy with pieces of mutton and potato distinctly visible. Similar was the case with the malai prawn. It all appeared delectable but unfortunately what followed next was was really upsetting. The six pieces in the mutton curry contained three sheer bone pieces and the prawn curry was miserably sweet and inedible. Shelled out Rs 2507 and left in a rush determined never to visit again. However, there was no lacking in courtesy by the attending staff and they gracefully replaced two pieces of mutton. But just imagine a standard AC restaurant charging Rs 519 + GST for 6 medium size...
