Heard about this iconic place from others seen videos by different food vloggers even coming from outside of Odisha. Decided to visit it 1 day. The best location would be tulasipur sub post office as this place is in front of it. If you are travelling from sati chaura traffic towards kanika road, take left turn just before kanika food market, continue straight around 1 kilometer or less towards Indoor stadium road. After crossing another square, this place falls 30 meters on the left on main road. Or coming from barabati fort side, pass through the gates continue towards indoor stadium road. After crossing the stadium turn left and continue for 50-100 meters or so. This place falls on the right. Since double road, you have to either cross on foot or move forward and taken round turn from the square 30 meters ahead. Taking about the food- Full plate costs Rs 50,okay quantity for the price. Serves another spoon for aloodum if asked. Few places where they have both sweet and salty dahibara. On personal level I do not like sweet dahibara unless it's prepared properly. I remember tasting once during a ekadashaha, ordered from puri along with abadha,20 years back. That taste can't forget after so many years. They dropped one full container made of clay accidentally all baras got thrown.Total loss. Any way here in this place, they mix both sweet and sallty dahibara unless you specifically ask them not to. They also add the both sweet and salty dahipani on the top a little but that made my plate worse. I couldn't feel the taste of aloodum when I reach the bottom because all was sweet. I asked for some aloodum to adjust the balance. The dahibara was okay but the aloodum surprisingly was balanced taste, not too spicy,or colorful. In the end, dahipani but more salt added to empty dana or bowl before pouring the dahipani. Made it more salty. Overall...
Read moreDon't fall in the trap that it serves the best dahibara aloodum in Cuttack.. In reality it's the worst place to eat traditious dahibara aloodum... Every one commented must try and I went for it but the plate is 60 rupees and there are only 5 pieces of bara with very small size and the aloodum is also not up to the quantity... They also don't accept phonepe gpay or any kind of transaction except direct cash... If the aloodum wasn't sufficient and you asked them a second time they will only give you one spoon of gravy ... that's all... nothing much more than that... And you will pay 60 rupees... Dahi pani is just one time... second time they will give you such a look that your inner thirst for dahi pani will automatically go away... Don't recommend it at all... don't ever...
Read moreThe brand name "Ishwara" continues to pull customers towards the stall. But how long can it milk it? The sons of the great man have been quite dismal in re-creating the magic which their father had once entralled the people of Cuttack with. The dahibara had transformed into harder versions of the original soft melting ones which Ishwara used to create. The aloo dum has become the bland aloo tarkari of the bhubaneswar-based novices. The guguni too doesn't bring in any nostalgia into it. It is, indeed, very sad to see the dilution of a great brand and of one of the founding fathers of the unique culinary...
