Mutton Rajaa — Restaurant in Odisha

Went here today (2nd june) around 2:15 pm after seeing reviews on social media & google🙂

Atmosphere: the outside seating area is nice but not at all suitable for day times as its too hot. Inside hall , the seating style is.e sofa & table is not too comfortable! Tables should be higher than sofa height so people can eat comfortably.

Even water flow from basin was too low that it made super difficult to wash hand properly.

So its a 3/5 overall.

Service: not good. Lot of scope for improvement. Except mutton & chicken thali, fish fry nothing was available from the menu. Upon asking they told the restaurant should be closed today but we are only open cause of mutton . I mean you should share an update cause if someone is visiting from far to try items , they would be disappointed.

As i was already there i made up my mind & ordered mutton thali, prawn tawa fry & later katla fish tawa fry . I asked the staff to give me mutton kassa instead of mutton curry in one thali to which he agreed . I even offered to pay extra for this but they told its fine sir , we will give mutton kassa in the thali .

Waited for 30 min ! Yes & only one table was occupied at that time.

30 minutes later , they came with mutton thali & prawn tawa fry . Guess that they served mutton curry in the thali . When i asked the staff why mutton curry instead of kassa he went to check with the guy who took order . Came back & told we are replacing with is kassa .

When the replaced mutton came , they had again given curry 🙂. Yes they just removed few curry portion from the bowl & gave it . At that time 2nd mutton thali came . I asked the staff that why mutton kassa is like just mutton curry. He told its like this only at our restaurant.i saw him the comparison & he offered to replace again but i denied as it was past 40 min already from ordering.

A great scope of improvement here to train your staff.

Food :

Mutton : Heard a lot about mutton tired it & i can tell they do serve good quality mutton . Mutton pieces were good too. Quantity wise it was good. Its the reason i have given 2 star

But again the taste was nothing extraordinary which i have heard on social media. It was mediocre. Dont know if it was the case for this sunday only or something else happened . But taste wise a lot of room for improvement.

Prawn tawa fry : good size prawn ( 4 piece). Taste wise it was again average. Ask your chef to improve or change your chef :)

Katla tawa fry : 2 piece good size fish. In the tawa fry description it was mentioned that marination is based on mustard but when i got the fish it was deep fried & no where it was based on mustard. They served fish fry instead of tawa fry . I asked the staff to which he told its tawa fry only. I didn’t argue. I ate the fish fry & it was average.

Overall: dont fall for social media influencer ! If the owner is seeing this please try to improve!

We ordered 1 full mutton curry n 1 plate rice. Waiter was polite and waiting time was minimal.

Quantity- The full plate mutton curry was served with two half potatoes and 6 pieces of mutton and onion pieces and chilly.

Quality- The pieces were mostly bone pieces and the mutton was chewy and a bit hard.

Price- Price is like very high compared to the restaurant environment and the food quality they served.

The gravy was sufficient for two of us but lacked authenticity of " desi khasi mutton " As the tagline states. The overall curry was tasteless every time i take a bite. It did not feel like eating mutton. It was something we are eating hard and like chewing with lack of any taste.

At last when i pay the bill at the counter. I told them the gravy didn't taste so good and needs improvement. But the counter guy said every one before me have no complain about the food.

Maybe they would be serving good food at some point in the past.

But today i will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Only one thing i would tell to the restaurant, please value the hard earned money of the people and serve good and quality food.

Hey, so I tried your food, and wow. I've got a big party next week – 50 people! I usually use The Marrion or The Crown. This time i was thinking to try in a different place so i went to your restaurant by seeing the review. Yes I could have only tasted, but my confidence was high as your restaurant name was " Mutton Raja ". But your mutton price? Seriously? I've had better mutton rice at 5-star places, and they're worth it. You get the ambience, you get the quality. I get that you've doubt on my affordability . Hahahaha., Your food was just not upto the mark just tasteless.

And i didn't mean boneless mutton. For your better understanding there are mutton pieces where there's mutton pieces with bone which can be easily eaten and there are also mutton pieces that have less mutton around and more bone which u served. I think you understand, or maybe not. But people watching'll get what I mean.

And instead of taking my feedback positively, you compared me to other customers and my budget? This shows how cheap you are , not as a restaurant manager or owner but also as an individual. I'm glad I didn't book your restaurant for my party. Thanks anyway. Oh, and I'm in media; I was even thinking of bringing my colleagues to film a piece on your restaurant. Thanks again for being so unhelpful.

Just a suggestion. Do respect your customers both positive as well as to the customers who are negative but clear in their views. Mark my words. Very soon your rating is going down. Before that prepare good food and good behaviour to your...

I wouldn’t wish this dining experience on my worst enemy. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place had all the charm of a hospital waiting room, except hospitals at least try to be clean. The floor was sticky, the air smelled like burnt disappointment, and the staff…well let me not speak about that poor guy he was desperately trying to help us but number was not in his side.

I ordered something simple—because surely they couldn’t mess up a basic dish, right? Oh, how naive I was. What arrived at my table was an abomination. All other food(Apart from chicken tikka butter masala which was really good) was lukewarm at best, aggressively seasoned with what I can only assume was pure regret, and the texture? Imagine eating a wet sponge that had been left out in the sun for three days.But the only good thing was food was not spoiled and we were so hungry that we didn’t have any option but to eat everything regardless the taste.

The drink I ordered? Somehow both flat and watered down. Impressive, really, in the worst possible way.

By the time the check came, I felt like I had survived something. Like I needed a support group. I paid, mostly out of pity, and left before the walls of this culinary crime scene could close in on me. Would I ever return?If am starving then probably yes else I’d rather eat cardboard. At least cardboard doesn’t pretend to be food.
