French Empire Restaurant — Restaurant in Puducherry

Its located near the Mahe bridge. Ample parking area just infront of the restaurant. Can park upto ten to twelve cars at a time. The restaurant is placed one level down the parking area, like not literally down the floor. Dont get confused with Two glass doors infront of the restaurant, both leads to the restaurant inside. The ambience inside the restaurant is good. The furniture inside the restaurant is one of the best in this class of restaurants. The floors are clean the chairs and table are clean and there is no problem of flies inside. The waiters are well dressed but they lack something in minding customers. I felt this but it might be because of the closing rush. The restaurant closes exactly at 11 in the night. You will get a big menu book which they serve almost everything from south indian, some north indian and continental foods. The time taken for the food to be served on the table is not that much long. The serving was clean and aesthetically good. The continental food ordered was mouth-watering while seeing itself and tastes great. The chef was good in his senses. The Parotta was soft and crunchy at the same time, great one there. Honest review : on our journey to kasergod we stopped here for breakfast . The place is easy to find and the management is very friendly ,we sat down in a room which had a nice ambience to it ,with all the wall art and photos. It was a nice vibe . We order steamcake(putt) and chicken curry a set of porottas and 2 cups of tea . They could have done better with the food as the steam cake and chicken curry wasnt up to the standard of the place as I have eaten far better ones at cheaper place but as for the porottas and tea it was beyond words ,we gave each other a suprised glace as we took our first bite and sip as it was one of the best crispy puffy porottas and best milk tea I have had in a long time . We were around 10 members who visited the restaurant today for having lunch. We ordered meals, porotta, Chicken fried rice Mixed Vegetable Kuruma, ghee rice and Beef Roast. All these were OK.

We also ordered Pomfret Fry and Squid Fry. Both were tasting very bad. I'm sure that pomfret and squid were spoiled/rotten one. Atleast couple of week old which were not preserved properly. When I informed the manager about this, he was not ready to accept it, instead of that he was very rude to me.

The toilet which is outside the restaurant was very untidy and stinky. When I complaint about that to the same manager he said that he can't make sure that the toilet will be always kept tidy.

Overall complete disappointment...
