Turf Club House Restaurant — Restaurant in Pune

I spent a weekend at the Turf club for a wedding with my family.||Absolutely loved the location. It's right next to the race course, nestled in the middle of the AFMC campus. Mornings are an absolutely gorgeous affair in that green location. I got to see jockeys exercising with the horses in the morning. They looked fabulous.||Rooms are huge and spacious but the beds are rather narrow and the bed sheets are probably from Nehru's era.||The food turned out to surprisingly decent. This included both the wedding food as well as the restaurant food.||The only thing lousy was the service. If you order breakfast at the restaurant you are lucky if they bring you the food in an hour. Usually they forget orders and have to be reminded constantly.||Room service is a much faster option but the waiters seem to believe that tips are their birth right. They never bother to return the change. Despite an official notice not to pay in cash, they will never bring you a card machine and you have to be on their backs to get your change back.||But overall I liked the hotel because it gave me what I was looking for, a peaceful relaxed weekend with good food and lots of space for kids...

Both literatively and figuratively speaking, the Turf Club as epitomised by its name, stands proudly just off the busy Sholapur Road in Pune,a beneficiary of the army's largesse as landlord of the property.||The Club is at its busiest when the racing season shifts here from Mumbai for a frenetic few months and all the club rooms are fully booked. The sweeping race course where the race horses go thundering by is just in front and makes for a striking spectacle.||When it is not in use, the Race Course is popular with early morning walkers and army and stud farm events.||As is wont, one has to be a member of the Turf Club to be allowed admission and avail of club facilities.An existing member has the privilege to sign a guest in.Marriage ceremonies and parties are a good source of revenue.Food and drink is well prepared and served and a table placed outdoors on the turf in the evenings is just right for conviviality.||Clubs elsewhere in the country are hard pressed to keep up standards but the Turf Club has always passed the...
