Haldiram's - Jalandhar — Restaurant in Punjab

Just like every other vegetarian, I was quite excited to visit and relish food at Haldiram's, but unfortunately, I really have a hard time picking the worst out of all the food items ordered. We started with Rava onion and Rava masala dosa. The Dosa was stale, full of rancid oil and raw stuffing. Mineral water tasted better than Sambar. It was awful. Thinking that it was just bad luck, we ordered tandoori aloo pyaaz kulcha, which both looked and tasted stale. We rode our hopes on the famous chana bhatura and they died out as soon as we took one bite. Either the food was overcooked or undercooked. The final nail in the coffin was hit by the raw motichoor laddoo. How in the world can such a tasty sweetmeat taste so bad and raw at Haldiram's?They were unable to add any taste to the basic motichoor laddoo. Alll in all, it was a nightmarish experience. It was heartbreaking to see such a glorious name, serving such inedible and nauseating food. Dear Haldiram's, being a true believer of your famous North Indian cuisine, I'd like to appeal that please don't just focus on the visitors who are travelling and may or may not visit you again, the people who want to visit your place frequently and live nearby, they will not eat at your restaurant more than once, because the experience is uncalled for. I recently visited the Haldiram's Eastwood Kharjula branch in Jalandhar, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I had asked for the Executive Thali listed on the menu, but was told by the Nishank Tiwari (store manager) that it wasn't available. Instead, I was only offered the Special Thali, which was more expensive. When I inquired further, the staff was unhelpful and said that the Executive Thali isn’t served at this branch. If it’s not available, why is it still on the menu? This felt like a tactic to push customers towards the pricier option.

Additionally, the hygiene at this branch was below par. The table, chairs, and sofas were still wet after cleaning, making it an unpleasant dining experience. Given Haldiram’s reputation, I expected better.

I went there yesterday for a Sunday dinner with my family in order to spend some quality time. But, the bitter truth is it's all unnecessary hype. There was such a mad rush and the management was so out of track. They didn't know how to handle such a crowd. We were unable to give online orders because of some network issues. After standing in a long queue we were able to place our order. But it was a effing hustle to take our order from the food counter. The staff was so unresponsive, they were not listening to the demands of people and the crowd was shouting for their orders like it was a fish market. We had to wait at the counter for 15-20 min for every order and finally when we were able to eat the food, it got cold and just not worth it.
