A Good Restaurant with Room for Improvement
This restaurant, part of the Papaya Tree Hotel in Rau, Indore, offers a pleasant atmosphere, though I’m not sure if it qualifies as a cafe. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with a couple of hours to work, my review might help manage expectations.
🌟 Ambience: The ambience is one of the highlights—spacious, comfortable, and well-designed. I’d rate it 4 stars for the overall vibe. However, the experience fell short of what I expected based on some prior reviews.
💻 Work Space Expectations: I had read that guests could use a worktable here, provided they placed an order. When I confirmed this with the receptionist, it seemed all good. However, to my surprise, I was not allowed to use my laptop when I arrived. If you're planning to use this place as a work-friendly cafe, be prepared for a similar experience.
🍴 Food Quality: The food was a bit disappointing. I ordered the classic chicken sandwich, which didn’t quite suit my taste. That said, it could have been a well-prepared dish, just not aligned with my preferences—so it’s hard to generalize my review of the food based on this one experience.
🤵 Service: This was another area where the experience didn’t match expectations. Given the pricing, I expected more responsive and attentive service, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I’d rate the service 2 stars.
In conclusion, while the ambience is appealing, the experience falls short on food and service. It’s a decent option if you’re staying at the hotel, but not the best choice if you're looking for a...
Read moreAbsolutely pathetic food! We had picked up food from this cafe located at Papaya Tree Hotel in Rau a few days ago and were really disappointed by the quality of food.
We had ordered a Chicken Biryani, Prawns Green Thai Curry, Babycorn Salt and Pepper and a Black Forest Cafe.
To start with, the chicken biryani was absolutely poor for the price! Three small pieces of chicken. It was from no angle a biryani because it was a more of a Chicken Pulav. I was told that since the menu has the word "Dum Biryani", we won't get "Dum" in our takeaway to which I was perfectly fine with. But should the hotel not have cut down on the price when it was not a Dum Biryani? Why should I pay the same price for three small pieces of chicken and a biryani which did not have Dum?
Babycorn Salt and Pepper was a joke in itself since it was TASTELESS and had NO SALT for a dish which has Salt in its name!
Prawns Thai Curry had stale and old prawns as if they were from last year! I have been eating the same Thai curry frequently from Radisson Indore and it is class apart!
Black Forest cake was smelly and we had to ultimately give it to a street dog!
What I cannot digest is the lame excuse of pandemic for not being able to do things in the right manner! If you want to serve such food, it would be better to shut the hotel down and not serve people...
Read moreThis is said to be one of the best cafes in Indore. Let me clarify as to why it is not -
As a vegetarian, I received a chicken dish. When I mentioned this to the manager, it was met with the utmost casual behaviour. The manager didn't care and asked if the dish needs to be changed or if I would like to eat it. The food is below average at best. The reason I give one star is because minus is not an option. I didn't want to leave it blank as people should have an idea as to how the food really is. The shakes/frappes we ordered came to us without any sugar in them. The entire restaurant is a haven for mosquitoes. In the 15 mins I sat there, I killed so many mosquitos and got bit by many more. There is no control for this. I ordered hot lemon tea and I got warm water and a tea baggy. If that was the order, I could have made that at home myself.
The only saving grace for this place is the lively ambience and this is certainly not enough to tempt someone to sit through any of the aforementioned points.
If this restaurant has to become what has been mentioned about them on paper, the people in this place need to become smarter and take customers...
