Read moreI would confidently say that this is one of the TOP 3 VEG restaurants in Tamilnadu
I have tasted the BEST ever tiffen items here
We had dinner and breakfast at this place and all of us tried the following:
Masala Dosa, Ghee Pongal, Ghee podi oothappam, Cheese Capsicum Oothapam, Poori, Adai Aviyal, Ghee Rava Dosai and Cofee
BEST TASTE EVER - I have not tasted anywhere Adai Aviyal and Ghee Rava Dosai like what I have tasted here. Both Adai and Aviyal had unique taste and Ghee Rava was so crispy and tasty. FANTASTIC taste!!! Adai Aviyal is served only on Fri, Sat and Sun.
COFEE was Fantastic at breakfast! Their Cofee is not the same filter cofee you get in A2B or any other places in cities This is so authentic made directly with cow's milk and not pocket milk. The coffee decoction is also unique which you do not get in cities. However I have to say the cofee they served during dinner was not so great. We went there after 8PM, either milk was diluted or decoction was not great.
Their Kadappa(unique Kumabonam item served with tiffin) and Coconut chutney are excellent. But their sambar is average.
Ample parking space - 15 to 20 Cars can be parked
Though the setup is in old style, there are relatively less seats which makes people stand behind your table at peak times which can sometimes irritate you.
Servers serve pretty well even if it is very crowded.
Of all said, this is the best restaurant in Kumbakonam area. I would say even Mangalambika is next to...
Read moreWent hearing hearing a lot of people recommending this place and it did not disappoint. Visited for lunch on a weekday. We did find a table immediately but people were constantly coming in. We had ordered tomato rice, sambhar rice, curd rice. Sambhar rice was served hot and tasted very good. The tomato rice and curd rice were also very good. But what truly made our experience was the mini podi Idli. Absolutely amazing tasting. Each idli was coated in podi and tossed in ghee and the freshness of the ingredients could be savoured in every mouth. Next was the small onion podi uthappam. Again, the batter had just the right amount of sourness with the beautiful crunch of onion in a soft and fluffy yet crispy corner. Again cooked in ghee and was so tasty. The wheat halwa was also oozing with ghee and just the right amount of sweetness making you want to go in for another serving. Finally, the finish with some Coffee and tea. Truly the best coffee I have tasted till date. The consistency, color, sugar and flavor was all on point. Ginger tea was a bit milky but I truly enjoyed the flavor. Will highly recommend this place especially try their south Indian Tiffin. Special mention to all the staffs for their cheerful mood while working and specially to Mr. Dinesh who attended our table - smiling and gentle in...
