Altaf's Cafe — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

So, recently we went to Altaf's Cafe during our 2-day trip to Kodaikanal. And this place is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

No, I'm not exaggerating at all!

The vibe, the ambience, the food the staff behaviour - everything was bang on - perfect!

I visited this eatery with my hubby and my kid. And we loved this place so much on our first visit, that we drove to this place again the next day, from the Kodai Lake area! Not to visit any other places or any tourist spots, but just to be there and have a sumptuous meal.

What We Had There: Mashed Potato with Cheese & Onion Mashed Potato Filter Coffee & Hot Chocolate Ginger & Honey Tea Sweet & Sour Lemon Juice Mango Shake Chicken Schintzel Plate Falafel Ball Veg Sandwich Chicken Sandwich Veg Fried Rice

Food Taste & Quality: 10 out of 10 (Especially the Pita bread, the lemon juice, the sandwiches, teh falafel ball, and the coffee)

The USP of this place is definitely the Staff Behavior and the songs they played that perfectly complimented the cloudy skies and valleys. The view this place offers is breathtaking and mind-blowing.

*Trust me, this place offers better views than many other tourist spots in Kodaikanal.

Altaf’s Cafe is a hidden gem perched at the edge of a peak, offering one of the most surreal dining experiences I’ve had. The moment you step in, you're greeted by breathtaking views—clouds literally float around you, mist brushes your face, and the sunlight plays peek-a-boo. It feels like you're dining in the sky.

I came across this place after seeing a photo that made me crave hummus and chole bhature. With full confidence, I ordered chole bhature, only to be told it’s not available. That was a bit of a letdown. But the rest of the experience made up for it.

The food we did get was absolutely delicious. I personally loved the aloo paratha—it was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. We also ordered a chicken dish that, unfortunately, didn’t taste great. We brought it to the staff’s notice, and they handled it professionally, even deciding not to charge us for it, which we really appreciated.

The ambiance is peaceful, and it’s the kind of place where you can sit for hours, just soaking in nature. Whether you’re a foodie, a traveler, or someone just looking to relax with a view, this place checks most boxes.

Food: The chicken sandwich I tried was simply incredible! Served with crispy, hot fries and a fresh, crunchy salad, it’s easily one of the best sandwiches I've had. Every bite was flavorful, and the quality of the ingredients stood out.

Location: The location is magical, perched amidst the clouds. The stunning views and cool breeze create a serene atmosphere that's hard to match. It’s an ideal spot for nature lovers and those looking for some peace.

Parking: Finding parking can be a bit challenging, especially for cars. I recommend parking a little before the cafe along the roadside to avoid any hassle.

Service & Hospitality: The staff were delightful, serving with smiles and ensuring a pleasant experience. The service was prompt, making the visit even more enjoyable.
