The Pollachi-Valparai-Munnar Diaries - Chapter 1
My first Vegetarian fine dining restaurant.
This was a totally unplanned grandfather in law's birthday celebration at wife's place.
The initial plan was to have food from the main restaurant but all the 6 seater tables were occupied. We got a brochure for India on a Plate themed fine dining in a seperate hall.
And we decided to go over there as we wanted to have food together. And it's just us at a table in the center in the hall.
And the orders and foods started coming in.
Bonda soup and Tomato soup were kind of okay but I am not the best person to judge veg soups 😬
Starters Hyderabadi kabab and Veg Malai Kabab( Paneer) were both superb especially with the mint chutney.
Then came in Bissi Belle Bath which I had historically never liked. But this one was good ☺️ And the Andhra Ragi Roti which is something I am keen to continue eating from now on 😬
Pessarattu, Neer Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa- all maintained good standard and taste.
Stuffed Kulcha- Chettinadu Gravy was an ideal combo but not as good as the Peas Pulao- Paneer Ghee Roast one. Ghee taste was absolutely lip-smacking. But it was a bit dry to be had with Peas Pulao. But still ❤️
Going as a group helped in tasting a lot of dishes. It was an experience to savour
Then we had some of their sweets. No words ....
Read moreActually tbh the ambience was really soo good, especially the chill winds really calms your mind, hygiene was thoroughly maintained. They had good varieties of food and the taste was good. But still I felt disappointed 😥, because I order Bamboo BIRIYANI, what I got was a normal biriyani which is cooked separately and was just served in a piece of bamboo. Actually they have the fancy word gimmick , though the taste of the biriyani was good, quantity was good, I got scammed. When I asked about this to the waiter, at first he accepted that it was normal biriyani which was just served in the bamboo pipe, later her changed his words stating that the biriyani was cooked in the bamboo. Since I knew how a really bamboo infused biriyani would taste like, I was able to identify that it wasn't the one I have ordered for. Though the price varied of about Rs. 40to45 bucks in comparison with the mixed veg biryani, the disappointment made me post this review. I even took this i to notice to the manager, he said he would check upon it rather than pacifying a heartbroken customer 😂 They weren't able to manage the crowd too. But TBH the taste and quality was Good. So guys always clarify whether the biriyani is cooked in the bamboo pipe or just served in the pipe. To my dismay the biryani wasn't even piping hot. ✌️ Peace to my...
Read moreThis restaurant had been one of the best available in Pollachi. Sad to see the downfall of the quality of the food and their service at the restaurant.
Nowadays visiting this restaurant in peak hours means losing a couple of hours valuable. There's no required staff (not sufficient) to run the show upto the satisfactory level.
Acquiring table may fetch around 45 minutes as many of their customers still believes them as the best and rushes in during peak hours. Once seated it takes another 30 minutes or so to serve the order due to paucity of manpower.
When the service is delayed at the table, vacancy in the tables also gets delayed. Resultant long waiting period. In the next level, The staff has also developed a dictating attitude seemingly due to their inability to provide basic services to the customers due to shortage of manpower.
Seems the overseeing of operations by management has declined unlike earlier. The management may intervene and take good care of the operations to save such a superb restaurant from...
