Balan’s Restaurant is one of the best vegetarian dining spots in Tirunelveli! Located conveniently in Khrishnapuram near Parpakulam, the place is ideal for families, travelers, and anyone craving authentic South Indian food in a clean, calm setting.

The restaurant offers multiple dining options: a large indoor hall, air-conditioned seating, and charming outdoor huts. There’s even a dedicated kids’ play area with swings and slides, making it perfect for family outings. The entire space is very well maintained, with plenty of parking and a peaceful ambiance.

Food-wise, it’s a delight. I tried the mini tiffin, which included soft idlis, crispy medu vada, pongal, dosa, and sambar—all served on a fresh banana leaf. The flavors were authentic and freshly prepared. Their filter coffee is a must-have! Service was quick and polite; staff were attentive and ensured water and chutney were always refilled.

Cleanliness, good lighting, and excellent hospitality really stood out. The food was served piping hot, and portion sizes were satisfying. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience provided.

Stopped here during a long road trip .The restaurant has a great selection of meals, and it’s perfect for a quick, satisfying bite. All Vegetables well cooked and taste was good .

What really stood out was the play area. It’s a lifesaver for parents traveling with little ones. The space is safe and clean, with plenty of toys and activities to keep the kids entertained while we enjoyed our meal. The staff was friendly, but the service was late to serve . They have an indoor and outdoor dining options are available. One thing I need to mention about restroom, They were incredibly unclean, with trash overflowing from the bins, wet floors, and a noticeable odor. It's such a basic part of the experience, especially when you're on a long trip, and this really detracted from the overall visit. I hope management addresses this soon, as it’s a huge letdown.

Very poor service. The people working there were least bothered about serving food or taking order properly. They wasted so much of our time. First by taking order, they never followed the taken order. They were coming out of the kitchen asking who ordered Poori, who ordered Dosa. So it was the survival of the smartest person over there. Even if you hadnt ordered poori, you can take it. Even then the time got wasted because they served the poori but not the masala for the same. They brought dosa but not chutney and sambar.
