Hotel Sri Balaji Bhavan (Pure Vegetarian) | Kumily Theni Highway — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

One of the worst hotels I've ever been.

Since it's located in the outskirts of Theni, this is the must visit for people heading to Chennai from Munnar. Hence we visited there as a family.

But to our dismay, we found the waiters who deem themselves to be the owners of the hotel and disregard and disrespect the customers as if they're offering food for free.

Since people come there after embarking the Munnar hills, everyone would be very hungry but to my surprise, I personally found nearly 5 families leaving the hotel without eating since there was no one to serve them.

We waited for nearly 30 mins and after repeated calling, finally our food arrived. Pongal was served cold while Dosa was cooked with sour batter.

Finally we thought that we'd skip the tea since we weren't prepared to wait for another 30 mins for the same.

But when we stood for payment of bill, 3 waiters flocked next to us for tips. If service is good, tipping is not an issue. But this kind of behaviour was a shock!

We stopped here while returning from Munnar. There were hardly any restaurants on the theni bypass road and Google also struggled to find any restaurants. That’s when this restaurant came up on our view and we immediately took a u turn. They have good road side parking. Their restrooms were ample and clean. The restaurant had ac and normal dining too. They ac hall had limited dining and got filled quickly. We all ordered veg meals and there was nothing much to complain or applaud. The meals costed around 160 Rs and included soup and payasam. Stopped by Balaji Bhavan Hotel for breakfast with a friend. We tried the masala dosa and coffee – the food was decent and satisfying. The service was okay, nothing exceptional but it got the job done. The place is usually crowded, likely because it’s conveniently located near the highway. On the plus side, they do have parking space available, which is a relief for travelers. Overall, a decent spot for a quick bite on the go.
