La Serre Kodaikanal — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Visited this place on the way to mannavanur last week and boy what a huge disappointment and a waste of time and money this place was!!!! This place hasn't held up in terms of food, coffee, service, or ambience.

We were a group of 5 and ordered a plate of peri peri fries, a bowl of pasta, one pizza and hot chocolate each. While the fries were great, the pasta had absolutely no taste to it, the pizza lacked any topping on it and the hot chocolates were a bit inferior for its price (400-450 each) . Ordered whipped cream on one of the hot chocolate and it was served in a tiny minuscule shot glass ,which I had to scoop out which ruined the whipped cream experience for me ...

Service was extremely poor, the person who served us only spoke Hindi and was extremely rude and stern , not friendly at all. We had to literally ask for basic things like utensils and he bluntly said no for our request to switch on the AC on that unfortunately hot middle of the day. We also had to remind him for orders as they seemed to forget about it, even though we were the only group of customers there. Finally we ended up paying more than 4000 rupees for the worst experience of the trip.

Not to mention the lack of proper washrooms, for which we had to get a key which opens the gate to three ancient looking washroom stalls which had stagnant brown colored water for washing . Absolutely disgusted by it.

I just thought everyone should know that the standard is nowhere close to what is mentioned on any influencer platform, and don't get fooled by the look of the place from outside.

I've heard a lot about this place on Instagram and loved the glass cafe look. It's been in my list for a long time so I visited this place and drove all the way from the lake in kodaikanal. It's disappointing to say the drive there was better than the service at the restaurant. They do not pick up when I you contact them either. I wanted to try their cheesecakes that are all over their page but was told that it is made only on special days. If I had known this I wouldn't have driven for an hour. I called them several times and even texted them on whatsapp but there was no reply. There are better cafe's than this so would recommend not to waste your money here. The service was horrible and the person taking the order was extremely rude. I can guarantee that this is not the best restaurant in kodaikanal. If you are in poombarai you can visit the cafe but it's not worth the drive. Although there are several coffee shops with much cheaper prices and delicious tasting coffee. Overall the ambience is beautiful with glass and plants everywhere but all of this lost in the bad service. Lastly, the most awful thing here despite the service are the toilets. They were horribly maintained and looked like they were not cleaned in months. There were cigarette buds everywhere in the washroom. The least they can do is clean it once in awhile. Worst place we’ve ever visited , we just thought it’s a nice ambient place in the middle of the mountains , but the service and the attitude of the owner was the rudest I’ve ever seen in my life , we ordered a pizza and one of their staff misplaced it to another table , we waited for 30 mins , I went and asked the lady who was standing near the billing counter that how much more time will it take for my pizza, for which she didn’t respond at all , and when we pointed out the mistake , she was least bothered to fix it , and instead behaved rudely instead of apologising , not even one word of sorry from her , we asked her to cancel the order , she immediately canceled , without a second thought or request to even fix it , we were hungry , Starving from 4 hours , and she treats us like as if we’re eating the food for free , she’s already getting good money , so she didn’t care that we’re cancelling the order.
