Read more10 minutes After holding a table where a customer was eating I was given a plain banyan leaf, another five minutes later when I asked ," Anna order eh edukkalaiye na " to the person who appears like the owner of the place ( yes the one in those pictures ) order edukka mudiyadhu ( in a tone implying we won't, not we can't ) irukkavangalukke innum kodukkala. ( we haven't served the people who are here ). In started asking myself where am I then. If this sounds normal and hospitable for a hotel then OK.
The Food
The Gravy - Proper authentic taste, flavours ( not by branded masalas ) aroma also loved the texture of the gravy. You get a teaspoon sized fish ( random ) when you ask for a meal.
Prawn and Kanava ( squid ) is what I was able to try that day. Apologize for making a direct comparison. Both are way better than what we get at Sundari Akka kadai ( properly cooked, no blant ordor, natural masalas and cooked { fried } during serving not just mass cooking. The Squid in particular was excellently cleaned never had it this good without the strong order of squid anywhere even in my home. Some thing which we can't get at the many shops in pattinampakkam fish shops.

Serving disappointed me on that day but the food made me a fan for the...

I did not go in expecting great ambience and I certainly didn't get any. But the food is certainly deserving of the highest laurel that you can bestow upon it and I do not say this lightly. If you are looking for recommended dishes to try, I'd say, 'try whatever you want to and be surprised at how much you love it.' I can say that with the utmost confidence because I went in with my group of 4 friends and we ordered everything we could and we loved all of it. Now, how many restaurants can you think of that you can say the same thing about? I personally loved the squid, I've had it before and never liked it. But I always knew that it wasn't prepared well and wasn't prepared by the right person. So I jumped in on the very first opportunity to try it and was blown away. The rest of the food after that was also,...
