I couldn't post if I didn't choose a single star. This restaurant is so worthless that it doesn't deserve any stars. We ordered for 6 chappathis, one egg tomato, and 2 non- veg thaalis. The first 2 items were served in no time while and our friends started eating it while 2 of us were waiting for non-veg thaali for almost 25 minutes... Then when we reminded them, they finally got the thaali with 6 different colored gravies and we waited for another 10 mints expecting non-veg piece (which usually you get in a thaali). While we enquired, they said that a non-veg thaali consists of only non-veg gravy and no pieces. And we paid 120/ thaali for the colored juices. Icing on the cake was no water to wash our hands. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL TO LOSE YOUR APPETITE.
This is the response I got from the owner of Kumki - "###As explained to you in person by our staff, what was served to you was Non Veg meals which contains egg fry, chicken keema with chappathi, poriyal, four non veg kolambu ( chicken, mutton, naatukozhi, and dry fish), rasam, curd, pappad, and unlimited rice which can't be priced lower than 120 considering our quality and taste. Please don't ever try to defame any business like above comments without understanding the reality. If we were really made delayed service, we will surely avoid such incidents in the future."
I think you haven't read or understood my initial review. I have clearly mentioned that we got colored gravies (non-veg kolambus as mentioned in your response). However, the "egg fry, chicken keema with chappathi, poriyal" that you have mentioned in your response was missing in our meals. So how does charging 120 rupees justify? I have better things than defaming a highway based restaurant like yours . I have reviewed what we experienced, what is the reality. Accept and take accountability and own up to your mistakes. This will help you to improve your business and will stop people from "defaming your business" You can clearly ask your manager, a middle-aged man in a Black and Yellow check shirt who took our order as to what they served us in the name of...
Read moreVisited this place in the afternoon, filled with hope for an authentic South Indian culinary experience. My visit turned out to be a mixed bag.
I started with the mutton chukka, expecting a burst of South Indian flavors. However, it tasted more North Indian, which was a bit disappointing given the location. The grilled chicken, which I hoped would be a healthier option, was visibly sautéed in oil, negating the benefits of grilling.
It felt as though the cook hadn’t truly tasted or mastered South Indian cuisine. The dishes didn’t reflect the authentic cooking methods or flavors I was looking forward to.
On a positive note, the service was ok. The waiter was friendly, making the experience pleasant in terms of hospitality. The restrooms, though dated, were clean, which is always a plus.
The place was packed, but this seemed more due to a political meet-up happening nearby rather than the restaurant’s popularity. The restaurant had plenty of available seating though.
A small hiccup was the absence of anyone available to make tea. However, the lady at the counter was polite and respectful, adding a touch of warmth to the experience.
While I didn’t try the meals, I noticed many patrons ordering them, which makes me think that might be the dish to go for. Perhaps the meals are where this place truly shines.
Overall, while the food didn't quite meet my expectations for South Indian cuisine, the service and atmosphere were pleasant. It might be worth giving the meals a try if you...

We stopped at Sri Kumki Restaurant during our bike road trip to Munnar for lunch. We were a group of 30 members and had pre-booked. The welcome drink — fresh lemon juice — was perfect after a long ride and made us feel truly welcomed.
They had arranged custom-made food just for us. The location is very convenient, right next to the highway, with plenty of parking space inside and outside.
The food was outstanding — hot, freshly made, and full of aroma. We enjoyed chicken biryani (served in large portions), chicken curry, chicken fry, sambar, rasam, curd, raita, papad, and sweets. Everything tasted delicious and satisfying. After lunch, many of us felt like taking a nap — that’s how good and filling the food was!
The staff were excellent. They arranged a separate dining area for our group and served food on banana leaves, which gave it a traditional touch. The hospitality was warm and memorable — it honestly felt like attending a family wedding feast.
We even got to celebrate Independence Day there, which made it extra special.
Highly recommend this place for groups, riders, and anyone looking for authentic, tasty food with amazing...
