If there's an option for 0 star , I would go for it. Worst Experience. I had one of the worst dining experiences at this hotel. The total bill came to ₹2400, but none of the dishes justified the price. The mutton biryani was particularly bad—it was underwhelming, and the mutton wasn’t cooked properly. I couldn't even finish a single piece of mutton. It was so poorly made that even children under 10 would likely ask for extra rice after having the entire portion. The chicken thooku biryani was equally disappointing. There was only one small piece of chicken in the entire dish, which is hardly enough to make it a satisfying meal. The portion sizes were extremely small, and the service was incredibly slow. For a price like this, I expected much better quality, but the food tasted like something prepared by someone with little or no experience in cooking. Honestly, even a ₹100 biryani from a local restaurant would have been far tastier and more fulfilling than this. I truly regret spending ₹2400 here, and my family and I were left completely dissatisfied. By concentrating on the ambience they could have concentrated on quality! Bad Experience 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Visited Thanjai Thambivilas during our Thanjavur trip, and while the ambience and parking experience were pleasant, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype—especially considering the price. 🍽️ Food Experience We arrived around 3 PM hoping to try their Biriyani, but it was already sold out. So we opted for the Asaiva Virunth (non-veg feast), which sounded promising but turned out to be underwhelming. While the platter came with plenty of side dishes, most of them were average in taste. They did serve a generous portion of rice, but that alone couldn’t save the meal. 💸 Pricing Definitely on the expensive side. The package meals feel overpriced for what you get. If you're visiting, I’d recommend skipping the specials and going for something simpler—like chapati with a good gravy dish. 🚗 Parking & Ambience Parking was smooth, and the attendant was helpful. The overall ambience of the restaurant is quite nice—clean, well-lit, and welcoming. 📍 Verdict Thanjai Thambivilas has the looks and the location, but the food—especially the specials—needs to match the price tag. Worth a visit if you’re selective with your order.

Extremely hated it. If you're an ambience lover then you can go for it. It is extremely hyped by people so I won't suggest this restaurant as you can find many other good restaurants at the same ambience and price. Rosemilk, pottalam parotta and suttakozhi was good. Don't try kari dosas it was terrible. Just for ambience and chit chat with family you can go

Writing this review on 07.01.25, 2.30pm. I went for dine-in here, so first i enquired about the availability of items and ordered Mutton biriyani. After taking order, waiter came back and said that, only pottalam biriyani is available. And he also suggest it, since it comes along with half a portion of mutton chukka & omlette. Foolish me, i asked to him to give a plate of mutton kola too. To be honest only the omelette was eatable. Kola was absolutely uncooked, maavaa irukkunga & every piece of mutton was just hard, I realized that it was something that has story from the last day. Immediately i asked them to take away those elixirs and give something which they would have freshly made. After a couple of minutes they came back with another half plate pottalam nd half plate kola, Repeat uh...! Soli ah mudichu vittaainga.... At last since i was been there for almost more than an hour & also chilling in their AC dining hall, i asked them a bill. ₹504, pazhaya sothukkum, vegaatha kola urundai kum. Ungala laam hotel nadathalanu yaaru da azhudhaa? Since i was not in the mood to argue more, avainga nalla neram, i paid ₹250 and wished them to have bright business ahead.

By this review I just want to make sure that no one should experience this kind of horrible times. And also to the owner of restaurant, case edhum aagida podhu...

Thambi Vilas is a charming restaurant that encapsulates the essence of South Indian cuisine with its vibrant flavors and inviting ambiance. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm hospitality and the tantalizing aroma of spices.

The menu offers a delightful array of traditional dishes, ranging from dosas and idlis to curries and biryanis. Each dish is meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic spices, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.

One of the standout dishes is the masala dosa, with its crispy exterior and flavorful potato filling. Pair it with their fragrant coconut chutney and tangy sambar for a perfect balance of flavors.

The ambiance at Thambi Vilas is cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings. The decor is tastefully done, with nods to South Indian culture adding to the overall charm of the place.

The service is prompt and attentive, with staff members readily available to assist with menu recommendations or special requests.

Overall, Thambi Vilas is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic South Indian cuisine in a relaxed and inviting setting. Whether you're a longtime fan of this culinary tradition or trying it for the first time, you're sure to leave satisfied and eager to...

A total waste of money! We as a group stepped in to Thanjai Thambi Vilas based on a few Thanjai friends' recommendation and decided to order Asaiva virundhu priced at Rs399 per plate. Sadly none of the 7 folks who ordered the meals finished (not even talking about satisfaction here) The fare was so so so average and a complete disappointment. Though we were wary of Thambi Vilas' reputation in Chennai and their subsequent closure, we still decided to skip Pattukottai Kamatchi mess thinking they won't let us down at Thanjai. A colossal waste of food and around 3000 rupees which could have been put to better use!

The best part, the naatukozhi kozhambu they with the meals came without even a shred of chicken (and had beans in it) and tasted more like the kurma for chapathi and the guy in charge replied saying it was paya style chicken gravy (come on, who does naatukozhi kozhambu in paya style)

I escaped partially by ordering Egg Biriyani only to be served with some avg biriyani which we just luke warm. And the menu mentions Basmati rice biriyani but all we got was more of seeragasamba type broken biriyani (I'd say it was more like ration...
