The best food I have ever tasted outside home...I had my lunch in Hotel Kathiravan....We were fasting as we came to temple....We got up at 4 AM and travelled to Srivilliputhur from Tirunelveli...It was almost 1 pm and we went to this humble hotel where only full meals served for lunch..I used to take limited meals or tiffin items for lunch if i have to eat out...I was like FULL MEALS ? FOR ME?.... But no other go...I was hungry....but when each item is served in our leaf, my view totally changed...The rice was perfectly boiled.....Neither under cooked nor over cooked....Just perfect....the perfection which is uncommon in typical hotels...the perfection you give when you prepare food for ur baby...Awesome....Sambar was heavenly...I felt like I was having the food cooked in my kitchen.......I enjoyed all the veggies served...I enjoyed the food very much....and for the first time I felt completely satisfied with a meal... Every thing served was was perfect..perfect...completely satisfied.....Then we went in to the kitchen as I wanted to appreciate the cook...He too was happy that we were fully satisfied with the meal.... Such a humble food, cooked with so much of love and care.....Still lives in the mind....It's been three years.....But still I can recollect the feeling of satisfaction the food gave to me....Those who want hygienic, tasty Traditional food its worth a try to have it in Hotel...

The food at this restaurant is genuinely good — flavorful, well-prepared, and served fresh. The menu offers a nice variety, and it’s clear the kitchen knows what it’s doing when it comes to taste.

However, the overall experience was let down by several issues. Cleanliness throughout the restaurant was below expectations. The dining area didn’t feel well-maintained, and the hygiene standards could definitely be improved.

The washroom situation was particularly inconvenient — there’s only one washroom for the entire restaurant, and it’s located at a considerable distance from the dining area. On top of that, it’s poorly maintained, which adds to the discomfort.

Ventilation is another issue; the air feels stuffy, especially during busy hours. There’s no designated parking area either, which makes access a bit difficult, especially for those driving in.

In summary: Great food, but the management needs to seriously address cleanliness, facilities, and comfort to provide a better...

We visited Hotel Kathiravan on 24th August as a family for lunch. We ordered meals, and the food was absolutely delightful—just like home-cooked food. Everything tasted great. The staff and service were equally impressive; the team was attentive, detail-oriented, and seemed genuinely dedicated to their work.

I understand that this is a legacy hotel with an old setup, but I had the chance to use their restroom, and on the way, I had to pass through the kitchen. To my surprise, the kitchen environment was extremely hot, with outdated facilities and no proper exhaust system to remove heat and fumes. It’s hard to imagine how the cooking staff manages to work under such extreme conditions. While customers enjoy the wonderful food, the people preparing it seem to endure a very challenging environment. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback constructively and makes improvements to create a better, safer workplace for...
