Walking down the stairs opens up into a world anew - a world of food. The clean corridors, well-groomed (unlike me), and courteous staff, walk around swiftly serving the hungry customers. Exploring the food maze, we read the funky catchphrases as we walked. We chose to sit by the window at the other end of the cafe. The writing on the walls reciprocates with our current state of mind and is philosophically intriguing. A few minutes passed, the owner of the place, Anirudh Ubhan, personally walked up to us and welcomed us to his hungry man's abode. He is a soft-spoken, enthusiastic, hard-working, and passionate chef. As the staff fast-forwarded with their orders, we sat quietly and watched him for a while. His conduct with his customers and with the attendants was perfect. It felt like he was in complete control of the place. At the same time, he made sure to complete all the orders from all customers on time.
Now about the food, I will try to choose the best words possible as there was nothing at fault. Everything was perfect. We ordered french fries, chilly potato, paneer bhuna wrap, and Szechuan noodles. They were tasty. To balance the taste of our palates, Varsha ordered a sugarless coffee, and I ordered an Oreo shake. Varsha was thoroughly lost in her coffee and criticized my coffee preparation at home. Hehe! But I must say, the coffee was to die for - Simply perfect.
In all, a silent rabbit hole for the hungry mongers. If you are in Uttarkashi, hop into this hole, and you will never be disappointed. 5/5 from us for neatness, quality, and quantity of food. And yes, does it burn your pocket? I bet you won't feel the burn.

Read moreI recently visited Cafe 18 during my work trip to Uttarkashi. I was looking for a cozy spot to work from, and this café turned out to be a lovely little corner in the city. The food here is really good, and the overall vibe is warm and welcoming.
However, when I placed my order and asked for the Wi-Fi password, the staff mentioned they didnât know it. Perhaps they assumed I was only there for the Wi-Fi, but since the cafĂ© is a bit tucked inside, my mobile internet wasnât working smoothly. I ended up spending almost two hours here, ordering at a relaxed pace, and truly enjoying the food, but I was a little disappointed about the Wi-Fi situation.
Just a small friendly suggestion to the owner: it would be wonderful if the staff could share the Wi-Fi password with guests who genuinely wish to work here while enjoying their meals. This small change could make the café a perfect work-friendly spot for travelers like me.
Iâll definitely be visiting Uttarkashi more often for work, and Iâd love to make Cafe 18 my go-to work corner. And of course, donât worry, Iâll always order food here, because itâs...
