Abhinay Restaurant is located at Suntalay on NH10 en route to Sikkim & Darjeeling.
● The Ground Floor Experience: On the 1st day of our trip to the hills, our driver took us to this restaurant for a breakfast. We took our seats at the ground floor of the Restaurant. We ordered 2 plates of Chicken Momo & 2plates of Puri-sabji. Our orders were delivered at usual time. Food quality and taste were decent. The atmosphere and the behaviour of the staffs both were satisfactory. We have used the Pay & Use toilet outside the restaurant. But they were dirty and unhygienic.
● The First Floor Experience: On the returning day of our trip, we had to start early from our stay, just after the breakfast. So we decided to take our lunch at the restaurant as the previous experience was decent. The agony started from there. After reaching the restaurant, at the entrance, one employee of the restaurant told us to go upstairs at the first floor as all the tables of the ground floor were occupied. We went to the first floor and sat on a table. Then comes a middle aged man with a long white beard and started chanting the names of all the foods available holding the Menu card in his hand instead of giving it to us. Despite of several requests he kept nagging about the food options. Thinking about the last dining experience we ordered the foods of his choices. We ordered Kurkure Crunchy Chicken Momo as starter and Steamed rice, Bamboo Sabji Wali Pili Dal, Aloo Bhaji, Chicken home style as main course. The bitter experience just stated….
So if anyone wants to take a stop here, please be cautious. And please be aware of the First Floor section and especially the Middle aged man with Long...
Read moreMe and my friends went to this restaurant to have our lunch. We didn't pay any money as we were sponsored by the IRCTC as we were part of the Yuva Sangam program.
Anyways, the pricing in the menu is decent enough for the tourists as it caters for them. For a local, it will be slightly expensive.
We had veg momos on the way to Gangtok. It was delicious. For some of my friends, they didn't eat much as for them it was their first experience to Sikkim so they couldn't tolerate the narrow and winding roads. I enjoyed momos as for me, it wasn't my first time to such roads so I ate it with no problem. The waiters and servers were nice.
On the way back to Siliguri, we all ate veg/non veg meals. It was good. I tasted it all. I didn't finish all as I had already eaten snacks on the way so I was half full. For some, they didn't eat because of the tolerance of the roads. And some just finished it completely. I had taken Pocky chocolate sticks for my friends. It was slightly overpriced but I took it since it was for my friends and since almost everything was being sponsored by the IRCTC for travelling and food so I had enough money to spend without thinking.
Speaking of the ambience, it was fine. It is good for travellers. The seating capacity is huge. There are two floors. We were a group of around 40 people and we almost occupied the entire first floor. I didn't take a good look at the ground floor so I guess it will be enough for another 40 people there too. The view from the first floor isn't that spectacular. But yeah on the way outside of the restaurant, I got a chance to pet a cat.
In summary, if you are a tourist, you will probably like this restaurant. And yeah it can get crowded too. We were just lucky that it got crowded when we just...
Read moreI recently visited Abhinay Restaurant on Darjeeling-Binaguri Road, and while the food quality is commendable, the overall experience left much to be desired. Here's a breakdown of my experience:
Food: The highlight of the visit was definitely the food. The dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, showcasing a good variety of options. However, the high prices make it hard to justify the cost, even for such delicious meals.
Ambience: The ambience is quite average and tends to be crowded, which diminishes the dining experience. It's not the place for a quiet, relaxing meal due to the constant hustle and bustle.
Service: Unfortunately, the service was a major letdown. It was very slow, and getting someone's attention to place an order was a challenge. The staff seemed inattentive, which significantly impacted the overall dining experience.
In summary, while the food at Abhinay Restaurant is good, the high prices, average ambience, and poor service make it difficult to fully enjoy the visit. There's a lot of potential here, but it needs significant improvements in service and overall management to...
