Azad Hind Dhaba, located on NH6 near Uluberia, is a hidden gem that offers a delightful dining experience. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way. The moment I stepped into Azad Hind Dhaba, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance. The rustic decor and comfortable seating arrangements created a cozy atmosphere that immediately made me feel at ease. The restaurant was well-lit, with soft background music playing, which added to the overall pleasant ambiance. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food. Azad Hind Dhaba specializes in Indian cuisine, and they truly excel in this domain. Their menu offers a wide range of options, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian palates. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to see the variety of choices available to me. I started my meal with their popular appetizer, the Paneer Tikka. The paneer (Indian cottage cheese) was perfectly marinated and grilled to perfection. It was tender, succulent, and bursting with flavors. The accompanying mint chutney added a refreshing touch to the dish. For the main course, I decided to try their Vegetable Biryani. The aroma that wafted from the plate was enticing, and the taste did not disappoint. The basmati rice was cooked to perfection, each grain separate and infused with fragrant spices. The vegetables were fresh and cooked just right, adding a burst of flavors to the biryani. The dish was accompanied by raita, which provided a cool and creamy balance to the spiciness of the biryani. The service at Azad Hind Dhaba was exceptional. The staff was courteous, attentive, and well-versed with the menu. They greeted me with a smile, promptly took my order, and ensured that I had a comfortable dining experience. The food was served in a timely manner, and the staff checked on me regularly to ensure that everything was to my liking. In terms of pricing, Azad Hind Dhaba offers great value for money. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of the food. I felt satisfied with my meal without feeling like I had overspent. To top it all off, the restaurant also offers a selection of delectable desserts. I couldn't resist trying their Gulab Jamun, and it was the perfect sweet ending to my meal. The soft and syrupy dumplings were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, leaving me craving for more. In conclusion, Azad Hind Dhaba on NH6 near Uluberia is a hidden gem that offers a fantastic dining experience. From the warm ambiance to the delicious food and attentive service, every aspect of my visit was top-notch. Whether you're a local resident or a traveler passing through the area, I highly recommend visiting Azad Hind Dhaba for a memorable...
Read moreThe Azad Hind Dhaba experience at the Kolaghat branch was a hit and a miss. While some of the items were good, the rest were not up to mark.
The Chicken Tikka and Children Reshmi kebab were flavorful with well marinated flavours.
For bread, we ordered Butter Naan, butter masala kulcha and tandoori butter roti. The butter naan was fluffy and rich in flavour. The kulcha had good filling and the taste was unique. The tandoori roti was prepared beautifully and was a good accompaniment with the side dishes.
For the veg we ordered mixed veg. Prepared with kaju paste and other essentials. The gravy was rich, creamy and flavourful.
Now here is the disappointment. For non veg sides we ordered - Chicken kali mirch, kadai chicken, and mutton roga josh. The Chicken kali mirch lacked the spicy flavour. It lacked any spicy flavour and was rather sweet.
The Kadai chicken tasted nothing like the kadai chicken. It was more of a butter chicken gravy with bell peppers in them. We ordered the kadai chicken a second time with instructions to make it spicy. But to no avail. It was not what your kadai chicken should be.
Mutton rogan josh, we all know what it tastes like. While the gravy was flavourful in its own right. It was not a rogan josh gravy. There was no rogan in the first place. Then, the mutton pieces were bad. Like really bad. You get 4 pieces of mutton for 370/-, and you expect atleast a decent piece. The pieces were badly cut, with more bony and cartilage portions than any actual meat.
P.S. - A very good practice of the Azad Hind dhaba is that they provide most of the gravy chicken items in three variants - with bone, without bone and shredded. It really allows us to have a different experience.
Overall a disappointing experience with the mixed veg and the kebabs being the best of the lot. The service was good, the servers were approachable and cordial. We were a 7 member party and the staff was quick in arranging tables together in the middle...
