I was on a family trip when we visited this place for lunch (it was quiet late and Sher E Punjab was overcrowded, so this was the next place en route to Kolkata). We sat down for lunch and quickly asked for there suggestion since we didn't know about the portion size they serve. We asked one of the waiters that how many plates of pulao should be sufficient for 10 people. The waiter said 10 people should order 10 plates. We ordered 7. The price for mutton was clearly overpriced. 270 for 2 pieces of it. When the food was served it was below par. We learnt that 2 people can share a plate of pulao easily. The waiter suggested 10 just to boost there sales. The rice was old and smelt of bugs. The rice wasn't cooked properly and was hard to chew. The peas pulao we ordered didn't look or taste like pulao but more like fried rice. The taste of mutton was also below par. We were served 2 moderate pieces each. One of my family members ordered noodles. It was from a previous day kept in fridge. They just reheated it in microwave (didn't even put the effort by heating it on stove). We could confirm this because the vegetables in the noodles were all cold. The prawns weren't cleaned properly. When we confronted the waiter he kept on denying the fact they just heated the stuff and served us. We managed to finish 6 plates of pulao and since they wouldn't take any returns , we packed the one extra plate. Over-all it was one of the worst experience we ever had. Refrain from visiting this place if not as a...
Read moreToday, on my way home from Mandarmoni, I had a strange experience. At Bagnan I stood at Hotel ABHIJIT on NH 6 to have lunch. I ate food in the restaurant . Good tasty food. Bill came. I gave money. I said can you give me a glass of water (actually we took water from the car, so he did not ask for water at meal time). The waiter immediately says there will be only minarel water. We cannot provide you normal drinking water. I said that normal drinking water you all didn't provide. They said we don't give water for free, but if you want tap water we can give it. And also I asked them in which water cooking is done? They answer me in normal tap water and also they said I am not bounded to give all this answer. There was an argument with me. I said that means you have cooked the water with tap water. They don't want to give answers, and not just a waiter, all people, managers, cashiers are all saying the same thing. When I said that you write on the back of the bill that "we do not give drinking water without money" they wrote. I said give stamp, singnature . They desparetely did it too. I got scared. Where is our Kolkata and West Bengal today? I have visited so many places in India but I have never found such things. And after leaving this hotel for about 45 minutes no water shop was found. I did this post to bring it to the attention of everyone. I know that nothing will happen, but my request to the government is that they should not tolerate all these and this type...
Read moreWe visited Hotel Abhijit Restaurant yesterday evening for a big family dinner. The quality of food is poor. We ordered crispy chilly baby corn and fried fish, and a paneer starter. The baby corn tasted stale and the gravy was too spicy and didn't taste like normal crispy chilly baby corn should. The paneer was inedible.
We ordered takeout for our main course - both Chinese items and Indian cuisine items. The quantity of all the food was very low. Since we were doing takeout they decided to skimp on the quantity. The quantity of food in main course was less than what they provided for the starter. The chicken dish and prawn dish was full of veggies instead of actual meat pieces. The tandoori roti was hard. The only thing I liked is their ambience, which is definitely not worth the money I spent. I would not recommend this place to anyone who cares for atleast a decent dinning experience and for qulaity food. Overall, we are highly disappointed with the food quality...
