We recently visited Theque Bankura for dinner with my wife and our 7-year-old daughter, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.
While the food quality and quantity were average, the staff's attitude left a lot to be desired. After serving our main course, the waiter approached our table three times, clearly expecting us to place additional orders. Once they realized we wouldn’t be ordering more, they started asking us to settle the bill—twice within a span of 7 to 10 minutes—even though our daughter was still eating and, being a child, naturally takes a bit more time to finish her meal.
There were only two other tables occupied at the time, so there was no rush for seating. Despite that, they turned off the air conditioning midway through our meal. When we and the other guests complained, they did not bother to turn it back on, making the environment uncomfortable.
To add to the disappointment, the washroom was poorly maintained—there was a strong unpleasant smell, and the sink’s water lines weren’t working properly.
We spent hardly 35 minutes there and ordered a starter, main course, and dessert, with a total bill of ₹763/-. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place due to the poor service and lack of basic...

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. When we asked for Dal Makhani, the staff first claimed it wasn’t available. Moments later, in a desperate attempt to sell, they said they could prepare it — what they served was just plain, tasteless dal with no flavor or authenticity, clearly made just to charge us. The breads were a disaster: tandoori roti was burnt like a papad, garlic naan barely had any garlic, and butter naan had no butter at all. The worst part was the hygiene. We found hair in the paneer dish and also on the supposedly “clean” plates. Even after pointing it out, the staff completely ignored us and took no corrective action. It’s horrifying to imagine the state of their kitchen if this is how they maintain the dining area.
At billing, they made us walk to the counter instead of presenting the bill properly at the table. No effort was made to address the complaints — instead, they charged for everything as if nothing had happened.
Absolutely disgraceful management, zero hygiene standards, and no basic sense of customer service.
Avoid this place at all costs — not just for bad food, but for your health. If this continues, it’s only a matter of time before they face serious...

We ordered a starter, main course, and dessert, and the total bill was ₹763/-. The food was okay—not great, not terrible—but the service completely ruined the mood. After our main course was served, the waiter kept coming back, clearly hoping we’d order more. Once they realized we weren’t adding anything else, they started pushing for the bill—twice in just 10 minutes—even while our daughter was still eating. She’s a slow eater, which is natural for a child, but the staff didn’t seem to care.
There were only two tables occupied at the time, so it’s not like they were in a rush. To make things worse, they turned off the AC halfway through our meal. Even after both we and another table requested it to be turned back on, they ignored it.
The atmosphere felt uncomfortable, and the washroom was in bad shape—smelled unpleasant, and the sink wasn't working properly.
Overall, not a place I’d recommend. Hospitality and comfort were...
